EnfieldCouncilandCountrysidearenowworkingonthedetailedplansforPhase2.Thisphaseoftheprojectincludes,affordablehomes,privatehomes,replacementcommunitycentre,medicalcentre,shops,replacementyouthcentreandanenergycentre.
Apublicinquiryintothecompulsorypurchase(CPO)ofpropertyandlandattheAlmaEstatewasheldinJuly.TwoobjectorsappearedattheInquirybutdidnotprovideevidence.AfterhearingevidencefromtheCouncil,theinquiryhasbeenclosed.WearenowwaitingonadecisionfromtheSecretaryofStatewhowilldecideoftheCPOcanbeconfirmed.ItisexpectedthattheSecretaryofStatedecisionwillbepublishedinlateNovember.

DUJARDIN MEWSEnfieldCouncilrecentlywontheprestigious‘ClientoftheYear’awardattheRoyalInstituteofBritishArchitects(RIBA)awards.
ThefirstcouncilhousingtobebuiltinEnfieldformorethan30yearshasalsowonaprestigiousarchitecturalawardatthesameceremony.
The38townhouses,flatsandmaisonettesatDujardinMews,namedaftertripleOlympicgoldmedallistCharlotteDujardin,wereawardedaRIBALondonRegionalAwardintheHousingcategory.
Thedevelopmentwasoneof50schemeshonouredatthe2017awards.EnfieldCouncilalsowontheLondonRegionalDesignAwardforDujardinMews,beatingtheTateModernGallery,NHS,developersandhousingassociationsintheprocess.

Youwillallbepleasedtoknowmostdisruptiveelementoftheschemeofthehasbeencompletedandthenewjunctionwasre-openedtotrafficattheendofAugust.ThesurroundingpavementsarenearingcompletionandworksbetweenSouthStreetandQueenswayareexpectedtocontinueuntiltheendofNovember.
Thenewlayoutwillcreatewider,lessclutteredpavementsandshouldprovideeasiercrossingopportunities.Itwillalsohelpsmoothtrafficflowandprovidebetterforcyclists.Anumberofadjustmentsareplannedinthelightofexperienceduringthefirstfewweeksofoperation,includingadditionalsignageandlocalisedmeasurestostopvehiclesdrivingoverthepavement.Wewillcontinuetomonitortheoperationofthejunctionandnewcrossingpointsandmakefurtheradjustmentsifnecessary.Ifyouhavespecificenquiriespleasecall02083793474.
