space of about three years most people

gain back all they lost and more. Neither is it about

deprivation, which can lead to bingeing. Nor is it

about a negative mindset. That can lead to failure.

And it is not about over-exercising or compulsively

counting calories or embracing prolonged fasting or

any other ’fad’—all of which can lead to failure,

discouragement, and depression. Rather, it

embraces the exponential power of science working

Dehydration can increase the production of free

radicals, which can wrinkle your internal organs as

well as your skin (outside wrinkles mean inside

wrinkles . . .)

Water is your most essential nutrient—unless

medically contraindicated, drink enough pure water

to have one or two pale urines per day

Learn to differentiate between thirst and

physiological hunger—drink a big glass of water

a helmet when bike-riding and for other sports

activities such as skiing and skate-boarding

Will the care of your leased brain-body be approved

when you turn them back in?

Physical activity and exercise is the single best

thing you can do for your brain. It also helps tone

your body, promote balance (homeostasis), and

variety is key to keep your brain interested and

motivated; select activities you enjoy and have fun

doing them by yourself or with others

Minimize sitting and maximize physical activity; aim

to exercise for 30 minutes each a day, in sections of

10 or 15 minutes, if you prefer

Read aloud for 10 minutes every day, learn to play

an instrument—minimize passive mental activities

such as TV and movies to retain memory / cognition

Engage in stimulating, mental activities for at least

30 minutes a day to keep your brain active—a gift to

yourself and everyone who knows you. Study to

learn and then turn the information into knowledge

and the practically applied knowledge into wisdom

The sun (son) of righteousness will rise with

healing in its rays —Malachi 4:2 NIV

Plants, creatures, and humans must have sunlight

to live—flood your home with sunlight but minimize

direct exposure to bright sun. Avoid sunburn,

tanning parlors, and ultraviolet light as they may

increase your risk for skin cancer and suppress

immune system function

Christ is compared to the sun—let the ‘sun’ and the

‘son’ flood your brain and body with light

You are what you eat—critical to brain function!

Emphasize Mediterranean-style plant-based

unrefined and unprocessed foods

Eat when you are physiologically hungry and avoid

snacking, especially of empty calories. Practice

good portion-control to role-model health and

energy and keep the body and brain—leased to you

for use on this planet—looking and working at peak

A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful

mind works healing —Proverbs 17:22 Amplified Bible

Humor and laughter are beneficial to both brain and

the immune system—laugh mirthfully a minimum of

30 times per day. Very happy people reportedly

laugh between 100 and 400 times a day—and they

tend to be healthier and often very long lived

Schedule regular opportunities for play,

relaxation, fun, and variety. As the old saying

goes: a change is as good as a rest.

Be the person you want for your best friend.

Choose your close friends carefully because within

three years you are at risk for picking up their

habits—especially for happiness, smoking, health,

and obesity (and you also influence them)

Select those who are smart, affirming, cheerful, and

reciprocal, who have a good sense of humor and

laugh a lot, and are on a Longevity Lifestyle. Be

brave enough to let go of those who are abusive or

who drag you down.

Unmanaged stress (including worry and anxiety)

pour out stress hormones, including cortisol and

adrenalin, which can kill brain cells and contribute

to dementia, accelerate aging, suppress immune

system and brain functions, and trigger eating and

drinking outside of nutritional balance.

Live the 20:80 Rule: Only 20 percent of the negative

impact to your brain and body is due to the event or

situation itself; 80 percent is due to your perception

of the event and the weight you give to it.
