London Olympic Games 2012Meelis MearuG1COpening ceremonyOpening ceremony was held on the 27th of July 2012 in the Olympic Stadium.The size of audience on the opening ceremony was about 80 000 people.There was about 15 000 volunteers, who worked there for no money.Aswell there were about 10 500 athletes from 204 different countries, including Estonia.Also there was about 120 different world leaders including Michelle Obama with his children.London Olympics were officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II

LOGOPublic reaction to the main logo in a June 2007 BBC poll was largely negative; more than 80% of votes gave it the lowest possible rating.Several newspapers ran their own logo competitions, displaying alternative submissions from their readers,and several writers from news agencies criticised the logo.In February 2011,Iran threatened to boycott the Olympics, complaining that the logo appeared to spell out the word Zion". - Zion means Jerusalem[6]MASCOTS There were 2 mascots in that olympics, they were named Wenlock and Mandeville.Wenlocks name is inspired byMuch Wenlockin Shropshire, England, where in 1850 the Wenlock Olympian Societyheld its first Olympian Games, regarded as an inspiration for the modern Olympic games.[The five friendship rings on his wrists correspond to the five Olympic rings, and three points on his head represent the three places on the podium. The pattern on his body symbolises the whole world coming to London, and the shape of his helmet represents the shape of the Olympic Stadium.
