Logo MarkThe logo mark comprises of a symbol and type. The relationship between these two elements is fixed and shown below. The symbol, colour and typographictreatment cannot be altered. Master artwork for the logo mark is supplied on the cd.

SymbolThe symbol never replaces the logo mark, it can only beused in conjunction with it as a complementary graphic.

Introduction

The Dún Laoghaire-RathdownCounty Council identity guidelines are an important element of ourcommunications strategy. Theyclearly link the organisation withthe many services, facilities,programmes and events that weprovide across the county.

The identity guidelines govern allaspects of design management. In the interests of consistency across the organisation compliancewith the guidelines is mandatory.Master artwork and templates areprovided on cd.

Colour OptionsThe logo mark must only be reproduced in the corporatecolours green and blue, black or white. Master artwork isprovided for all logo mark colour options. Where colour isrestricted and the prescribed colours cannot be used, thelogo must be printed in the darkest colour available.

1.2 Clear Zone and Minimum SizeThe clear zone is the area surrounding the logo markthat must be kept free of other graphic elements. Theminimum clear zone is defined by the height of the wavegraphic as shown. To ensure the logo mark is clearlyreproduced a minimum size has been specified.

Clear ZoneThe minimum clear zone isequal to the height of thewave graphic in the logo mark.

TypefacesTwo typefaces, The Sans and Proforma, have been selectedfor use on all printed material issued by the organisation.These typefaces must be used in all content such aspublications, signs, stationery, forms and advertising.

1.4 PC Applications Typeface When material is being produced using applications such asPowerpoint and Word, the typeface Verdana must be used.The Council website and linked websites must use Verdana.

Bilingual TextAll materials must comply with the Official Languages Act2003. The Irish Language Scheme developed by the Councilapplies to all materials. It is available on the intranet andCouncil website. If you have any queries, contact the IrishOfficer in Corporate Services.

It is important to distinguish between the Irish and Englishlanguages in order to aid readers. Typographic or/and coloursolutions can be employed as shown in this section.

Colour PaletteThe corporate colours are green and blue as shown belowwhich must be used when the logo mark is reproduced in colour. A secondary colour palette has been developed to complement the corporate colours. Use of tints of the secondary colour palette is permitted.

1.8 Design GridA design grid applies to all applications with few exceptions.There are 2 design grid options. A unique band is used tocontain the logo mark and creates a distinctive visual style. In publications the Council’s web address must be placed inthis band. Additional text can be added to the web address,for example dlrcoco.ie/libraries, to simplify locating specificinformation. The web address can only be reproduced in thecorporate blue or green on colour applications or black/whiteon black and white publications. No other imagery or othertext can be placed in the band. Templates are available onthe cd.

The web address must be included on alladvertising, it can be postioned in the band or outside ofthe band depending on scale and visiblity.
