Log Name and Formation TopAliasing
Overview
Aliasing allows the use of alternative names for log curves and formation tops When aliasing is
used the Kingdom software substitutes an alias name for the primary log or top name Log
Aliasing is used in Vertical Displays and in the following features Log Shading Log Equation
Log Normalization Log Crossplot Pick Baseline and Zone Attribute Calculation
Create a Log Alias
In this exercise we will use the Sooner project and create a log alias for the LLD curve Thirty six
(36) of the wells in the Sooner project have an LLD curve The Sooner Unit 20-8-7 well has only
an ILD and the Sooner Unit 21-6-15 has only an RILD curve We will make the LLD curve the
Primary Log Curve and alias the ILD and RILD curves Then we will create a cross section
through the Sooner Unit 20-8-7 Sooner Unit 21-6-15 and Sooner Unit 9-21 wells and display a
deep resistivity curve for each well
1 Open the Sooner project (Project gt Open Project gt Sooner gt soonertks)2 Click to make the Base Map active and then on the Kingdom main menu click Logs gt Log
Curve Management to open the Log Curve Management dialog box
3 On the Log Curve Management dialog box click the Alias tab
4 In the Select Primary Log Curve text field select LLD
5 Check ON Use Alias and Log Type
6 In the Log Type text field select Resistivity
7 In the Select One or More Log Curve(s) list hold Ctrl and then click ILD and RILD
8 Click the gt move arrow to move the selections to the Aliases for Primary Log Curve list
Logs are displayed according to the hierarchy in the Aliases for Primary Log Curve list The
log curve name at the top of the list is displayed first as shown in Figure 1
