Lokomotiva serije 740/742 is ideal for hauling local trains as well as shunting locomotive. Modern design, reliable and powerful engine, quality and robust electrical machines and control-command elements, great suspen-sion ideal ratio of length-mass-wheel arrangement, are reasons for guaran-tee that this type of locomotive will remain active for long time in rolling stock of its users. It still represents main and irreplaceable shunting locomo-tive of Czech and Slovak Railways. Although its main purpose is heavy shunt-ing, many private operators are using it for hauling of freight trains, while Czech and Slovak Railways are using it for hauling of regional passenger trains. In KOMBINOVANI PREVOZ this type of locomotive is (were) used by: • PC “Serbian Railways”: for shunting duty in rail station Pančevo Main, as well as for circular ride on route Pančevo-Belgrade and hauling of local passenger and light freight trains on route Pančevo-Vršac; • U.S. Steel Serbia Smederevo: for shunting duty in man yard and industrial sidings; • Porr Gradežništvo dooel Skopje: for hauling work trains, haul and dispersion of gravel on rail, and other construction duties at Campina-Predeal (RO) rail.
