OBJECTIVE: Spread a little poetry throughout the football team

Do not force them to read it but have it provided for their choice

Hopefully inspires some of the players to read more poetry (rather than listening to rap…)

Provide a poem that motivates us enough to whip Georgia’s ass

POEM: It Couldn’t Be Done (excerpt) By Edgar A. Guest

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,

There are thousands to prophesy failure,

There are thousands to point out to you one by one,

The dangers that wait to assail you.

But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,

Just take off your coat and go to it;

Just start in to sing as you tackle the thing

That “cannot be done,” and you’ll do it.

PROJECT:I bought cups and attached a motivational poem to the sides

I sat the cups beside the PowerAde machine in the locker room

I then observed how the players reacted to the cups and the poem

RESULT:• The outcome was a lot better than I expected• The players really enjoyed the poem and it

really motivated them for practice (Trust me, I run the scout offense against our first defense…)
