SURVEY OVERVIEW

This teacher housing survey was created using the set of survey questions used by both Santa Clara Unified School District and San Mateo Community College District to create teacher housing communities.

The questions were adapted for EUSD on February 13, 2013 from a list of questions approved by Dr. Debbra Lindo of Emery Unified School District. The survey link was distributed to 95 EUSD Employees by EUSD, of which 22 had responded by the closing date.

Two reminder emails were sent out to all EUSD employees by EUSD staff during the two week survey period. The following pages are a summary of the survey results.

Open Date: February 25, 2013 Close Date: March 11, 2013

I would love to live in rental housing devoted to EUSD employees!!

The money that I can save, will afford me opportunities to pursue other degrees while I’m working.

I would love to own my own home in the near future, so renting a below market unit would be nice if it has the option to buy.

Any way to save money is a plus. I find EUSD to be a very well characteristic staff and wouldn't mind living next to work buddies.

My current landlords passed away, and I may need to find new housing. I want to stay in Emeryville.

I was looking at rental housing in Emeryville, but the rents were too high for larger family sized units.

I would prefer to purchase a single family home, so renting a below market unit would be nice if it has an option to buy.

I Already own a home. Also, Emeryville isn’t safe at night.

I appreciate your concerns for Emery teachers and helping to create comfort, as a result students will be better served without further stress on educators and stakeholders.

Location means a lot as gas prices rise again. If my gas commute did not exist, I would have more money to save towards a house.

I’m very interested in a nice unit that is affordable for me as a teacher in EUSD. Also, I prefer two bedroom, but because I’m single I could use a one bedroom. At some point in the next three to five years I would like to buy an affordable home.

This survey does not include purchasing below-market housing. Do you have below-market value homes, etc. for purchase?

Please include other staff members besides teachers that would benefit from this program.

17. Please share any ideas you have about this project or tell us about your specific housing needs?
