417 million European mobile subscribers by 2017 with 40% using location services daily*.
Developed European markets (e.g. UK, Spain, Germany) mobile subscriber growth is slowing, yet strong M2M connection sgrowth forecasted. M2M modules for EU forecasted annual growth rate of 31.3%*.
"The entire range of telematics services such as eCall, stolen vehicle tracking, pay as you drive, vehicle insuranceand remote vehicle diagnostics will enter the growth stage starting in 2015“.

Concept
• The solution is a platform addressing LBS market and other application in emerging markets such as road.
• The value to market is to improve the efficiency of GNSS receivers (TTFF, accuracy), to benefit from EGNSS novelties (position authentication) and to propose standardized interface and API.
• There is a convergence across markets on the use of GNSS as an enabler for new applications.
ELAASTIC Project
ELAASTIC
Our objective = to provide “Location As A Service” (like
communication)
Our solution = to develop a core platform augmented by local elements
Platform = multi location technology platform derived from our industrial background (from Telespazio and Thales Alenia Space) and enhanced within ELAASTIC H2020 project
Local Element = ground augmentation infrastructure deployed over the city to guarantee location availability

ELAASTIC Project
• European Location As A Service Targeting International Commerce
• A consortium of proven companies:
– Telespazio France, as a recognized space applications operator,– Thales Alenia Space as an Assisted-GNSS and advanced GNSS receiver algorithms
technology provider,– ST Microelectronics as the European GNSS chipset champion provider– Rx Networks as the worldwide leader in providing cross-platform real-time and
synthetic assistance data, along with unique assets such as their cellular and Wi-Fi databases,
– Novero as a leading European Machine to Machine (M2M) solution provider for the automotive telematics market.

LBS product legacy
• Location Based Services were offered by NMOs through the Control plane.
• SUPL protocol in User plan allowed the LBS to skip the MNOs.
• SUPL server with access to GNSS assistance data are embedded as a function offered by Operating system provider.
• In the past 10 years, the value chain of localization based services switches from NMOs hands to Operating system providers and mobile application.
• Potential customers have internalized some of the features
