Local Development Investment
Dear Citizens, You are aware of the extent of the attention we accord to
the development of human resources in order to provide our young sons and daughters with wider and better
opportunities of education, training and employment. This is almost a fixed item in each of our speeches addressed through you to all the people of Oman.
There can be no doubt that the human being is the basic component and the cornerstone of any viable civilisation.
We therefore, once again reaffirm the importance of this element in the development and modernisation
of society.

At Omran we strongly believe that local development is the back bone for the sustainable growth of any country’s economy worldwide. As the tourism development arm of the government, we develop, manage and invest in some
of the largest and most diverse tourism projects across the length and breadth of the country. With each of these
projects we develop or assets we manage, we invest a great deal of time and effort in the development and support of
the local communities and companies in which we operate. In doing so we are not only investing and transferring our
knowledge, but also shaping the future of the nation on its path towards prosperity and sustainability. The skill and
experience they gain will help improve the quality of services and skilled workforce available within the local
market, strengthening it and ensuring its growth.
Together with our partners, we will ensure the continued development of the local communities and businesses
whilst at the same time advance our goals as a responsible and inclusive company”
Wael Al LawatiCEO of Omran
We are the leading tourism-related investment, development, and asset management company in Oman. It is our strategic goal to be a key player in the development of Oman’s local market. It is our National Identity.

The three values above govern our operations in Oman. They represent our aim to develop the country based on industry-leading quality, mutual respect and sustainable strategies. As part of our local development policy we have three areas of focus that are closely aligned with our business communities in which we operate, contractors and organisations whom we award work to, and the assets and facilities we manage.

Dawood Contracting had successfully completed manyconstruction projects, however Alila Jabal Akhdar was theirfirst foray into the hospitality sector. With their past track record and firm commitment, Omran appointed them as the main contractor for the construction of this project.
The remote location, weather and special construction methods required proved to be major challenges, but the
‘can do’ attitude of everyone involved ensured that the milestones were met successfully and the project was
completed and handed over on time.
Ammar Al KharusiSenior Development Manager
“Working with Omran has been a wonderful experience. The fact that it was our first contract in the hospitality
sector drove us to expand our technical knowledge and capacity. It has also increased our confidence to pursue other similar projects in the future and heightened our
corporate image within the construction industry.”

Choosing the right partnersFareeda Design is an architectural and interiors design consultancy firm established in 1994. It has successfully gained a strong reputation for meeting demanding time and budget constraints whilst surpassing client expectations.
Fareeda Design was appointed for Omran’s Atana Musandam project. The firm worked in line with Omran’s vision to create a LEED certified three star hotel for Khasab that would cater for the growing demand in the region. They ensured that the building’s interior combines the beauty of traditional Omani architecture with modern practicality. Fareeda Design was also appointed to redesign the lobby of Atana Khasab in 2014.
The majority of the materials were sourced locally and wherever possible renewable materials were selected. The artefacts and handicrafts selected for the projectwere traditional local Omani products while most of the furniture was custom-designed and locally manufactured.
“Being a local Omani interior design consultancy we are proud to have played our part in the realisation of this project with Omran and are delighted it received
the recognition it thoroughly deserves. Atana Musandam was our first LEED certified project. Completing such
a prestigious and creative job has given us an enormous boost.
Working with Omran has helped us strengthen our reputation in the hospitality sector. It has significantly
advanced our thinking about the importance of stakeholder engagement in regards to environmental
and social performance.”
