Keep dishes clean: If you’re a person who tends to let dishes pile up in the sink to avoid washing them, try this trick: For a few days, set a mer before you begin washing the dishes. If you know the task will take just minutes to complete, it will be less difficult to convince yourself to take care of them. How to Clean a Burned Pot: Cover the burned area with baking soda and fill the pot a third to halfway up with boiling water. When the water is cool enough to touch, use your sponge to scrub away the scorch. Then wash the pot with hot, soapy water. Clean your sink: The sink, especially the faucet, should be cleaned more oſten, considering it’s something we touch with raw-chicken-covered hands. Sponges should be cleaned frequently, too, either by running them through the dishwasher or microwave. If you use a microwave, first make sure the sponge does not contain any metal, then get the sponge very wet and nuke it for two minutes; be careful when you remove it, as it will be hot. Keep Surfaces Clean: Wipe your counter and stovetops with an all-purpose cleaner aſter use. Stovetops in parcular benefit from this type of regular, quick cleaning, as splaers, drips and grease become baked on when leſt too long. How to clean a stovetop: Something tough will be required to scour away baked-on splaers and greasy film. A Dobie Pad, which is a nonscratch scrubbing sponge, combined with a gentle powder cleanser will make short work of stubborn messes. Tackle the refrigerator: An easy way to keep tabs on a refrigerator is to add one simple task to your trash day roune: When bagging up the garbage, look in the fridge. Are there leſtovers that have gone bad? Toss them. How to Clean Spills in the Refrigerator: When scky spills happen in the fridge or pantry, make short work of cleaning them by soaking a sponge or rag in very hot water then wringing it out. Press the sponge onto the scky spot then wipe the spill away. If it’s sll clinging stubbornly, repeat as needed unl the substance loosens up, and then wipe clean. Grievance Policy

July is the First Full Month of Summer! Now is the time to prepare for the high temperatures that kill hundreds of people every year.

Extreme heat caused 7,415 heat-related deaths in the United States from 1999 to 2010.

Heat-related deaths and illnesses are preventable, yet annually many people succumb to extreme heat.

Take measures to stay cool, remain hydrated and keep informed. Getting too hot can make you sick. You can become ill from the heat if your body can’t properly cool you off.

The main things affecting your body’s ability to cool itself during extremely hot weather are:

• High humidity. When the humidity is high, sweat won’t evaporate as quickly, which keeps your body from releasing heat as fast as it may need to

• Personal factors: Age, obesity, fever, dehydration, heart disease, mental illness, poor circulation, sunburn, and prescription drug and alcohol use can play a role in whether a person can cool off enough in very hot weather

Everyone should take these steps to prevent heat-related illnesses, injuries and deaths during hot weather:

• Stay in an air-conditioned indoor location as much as possible• Drink plenty of fluids even if you don’t feel thirsty• Schedule outdoor activities carefully

• Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing and sunscreen• Pace yourself

• Take cool showers or baths to cool down• Check on a friend or neighbor and have someone do the same for you• Never leave children or pets in cars• Check the local news for health and safety updates

Monthly Financial TipsWe all have habits, some better than others. The important thing is how you acknowledge and manage them. Just take it one step at a time.

Overcome your Takeout Tendency• Buy instant meals at the grocery

store, they are cheaper and efficient.

• If you want takeout once in a while pick it up instead of getting delivery and save a couple bucks.

• Decide not to get take out before you get hungry. Once you’re hungry you’ll see take out as the only option.

• Keep water or drinks in your car instead of buying them while you are out.

• Keep a snack with you to eat on the way home from work.

• Keep fast and easy recipes and ingredients on hand for quick and easy meals.

• Plan meals for the week and grocery shop on Sunday.

• Cook a bunch of food or soups, freeze them and bring them out on nights when you are too busy or tired to cook.
