Maths Tuesday 5th May
LO – Volume of a cuboid problems
Yesterday, you may have noticed in the spicy section some volume problems. One question asked for missing
measurements in a table, the other was to work out the volume of a compound shape (remember those from last
week?).
Today we are going to try more volume problems like those.
Here are some method links to help you work out the volume of a compound shape –

HINT - You will find it useful to sketch the compound shapes to help you calculate the volume. But remember, just
sketch them, don’t try and draw them actual size.
Take care - The work is spread over a few pages, so you’ll be doing a lot of scrolling!
Good luck!

a) cuboid A: 6 × 4 × 3 = 72cm^
b) cuboid B: 2 × 8 × 4 = 64cm^
c) cuboid C: 9 × 2 × 3 = 54cm^
Counting the cubes
a) 11cm^3
b) 30cm^3
c) 14cm^3
