 MAIN STREET MONTHL Y For the second year in a row, visitors to downtown Luling experienced a taste of Loui- siana during the Annual Luling Main Street Rajun’ Cajun Throwdown Gumbo Cook-off, March 10. The weather was rainy and cold, but that didn’t stop 24 teams from setting up camp and competing in the cook-off. Some traveled from as far as Baton Rouge, La. to try their  luck in winning a cash prize and a coveted Voo Doo doll trophy. Their teamwork, enthusiasm and culinary efforts were appreciated by everyone in atten- dance. From gumbo to gator, bread pudding to fried oysters, there was something for ev- eryone to sample. Musical entertainment for the event includ- ed the zydeco sounds of The Dr. Zog Band, and Cajun tunes from Chris Rybak with his special guest Flaco Jimenez. Luling Main Street would like to thank our Rajun’ Cajun sponsors (see list at right). Without their generous support our fundraiser  would not have been possible. Special thanks to Eric Lugo (emcee) and Kevin Gibson (auc- tioneer. Our volunteers, the life-blood behind the Main Street mission, were hard at work all weekend, and the Rajun’ Cajun Committee members dedicated countless hours to the  pla nni ng and pre par ati on of thi s e ven t. For the second year in a row, visitors todowntown Luling experienced a taste of Loui-siana during the Annual Luling Main StreetRajun’ Cajun Throwdown Gumbo Cook-off,March 10.

The weather was rainy and cold, but thatdidn’t stop 24 teams from setting up campand competing in the cook-off. Some traveledfrom as far as Baton Rouge, La. to try their luck in winning a cash prize and a coveted VooDoo doll trophy.
