LLTF CONTOURED BURP CLOTH

You will need 2 x printed pattern pieces, cut out and taped together The pattern can

be found at here)

A piece of cotton fabric approx. 19” x 8” for the front &

Cotton Terry towelling for the back. (I use towels from Big W, Kmart, Spotlight etc when on special)

and you can get multiple cloths from one towel. Cloth towelling nappies also work well but

sometimes hard to find.=

Lay pattern piece on top of front fabric, pin and cut.

Place top right side down on top of towelling. Pin, leaving an opening for turning, about 3”. Cut out.

Sew ¼” seam being sure to back stitch at beginning and end of opening.

Trim away excess towelling around edges and snip into curves being sure not to cut into stitching.

Turn to right side through opening.

Push out curves and seams ( I use a pencil shaped chop stick) A pen with its cap on or your thumb

works well too.

Fold in opening edges and pin.

Top stitch all around about ¼” from edge being sure to catch opening in stitching. Back stitch at

beginning and end.

I then like to wash the burp clothes and give them a good press.

Fabric, of course, can be pre washed prior to construction.

You can find a free pattern here with pattern piece here.
