Facilities Include ... Main Space - 21m x 10m acoustically treated former nave Steinway Grand Piano Raised wooden floor Flexible stage risers Opus musician posture chairs and music stands Control Room – Flexible classroom size space with power and data points, including a clean feed to support recording Two rest areas – bistro style seating, sofa chairs and two fully equipped domestic kitchens Dressing rooms – quite spaces for relaxation, changing or practice. Wi-fi Secure car park > > > > > > > > > > Rehearsal space With an acoustically treated main space, flexibility and numerous breakout rooms, Liverpool Philharmonic at the Friary is an ideal space for rehearsals for all kinds of activity and is available for hire. Currently used by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, and West Everton Children’s Orchestra. The Lady: A Homage to Sandy Denny, a Music Beyond Mainstream project, with a unique line-up of artists including some of Denny’s former colleagues and friends including members of Bellowhead, Jerry Donahue, Maddy Prior, Joan Wasser (Joan As Policewomen), Thea Gilmore and Green Gartside has been based at Liverpool Philharmonic at the Friary for rehearsals before an eight date tour visiting Liverpool, London, Brighton, Gateshead, Basingstoke, Nottingham, Manchester and Coventry. The Irish Sea Sessions, project featuring a 14-strong band of traditional and contemporary musicians created the inagural concert in 2010 at the venue and rehearsed prior to tour to Belfast, Derry / Londonderry and Liverpool in the following year. A new Irish Sea Sessions will be created at the Friary this year. Recordings Major recording labels including EMI Classics, Decca and AVIE have recorded at Liverpool Philharmonic at the Friary with young rising stars in classical music including Tine Thing Helseth (trumpet), Benjamin Grosvenor (piano), and HJ Lim (piano).
