health. The problem is the calorie-rich dressingsh on salad. Also,

extras such as fried chicken, nuts, and cheese increase the calories.

Frozen yogurth—This yummy treat might seem like a good

alternativeu to ice cream, but don’t fool yourself. The huge

amount of sugar in frozen yogurt will make you gain weight.

Fat-free food—The trouble with this kind of food is that, like

frozen yogurt, it often contains a lot of sugar. Plus, without

the fat in it to make you feel full, you tend to eat more to feel

satisfied.5

It’s not just what we chew1 that’s important to our health. We also need to be aware2 of

our drinking habits. Here are a few beveragesu you might think help your diet, but don’t.

Juice—It’s hard to believe, isn’t it? After all, fruit and vegetables

are always recommended by nutritionists.h However, juice from

stores is often loaded with sugar. That means you’re getting a

big helping† of calories in that cup.

Diet soda—Obviously,3 diet soda doesn’t have the sugar that

regular pop† does. Some scientists believe that it reacts4 with

chemicals in the body that control appetite5 and metabolism,h

though. Studies have even linked drinking diet soda to obesity!h

Sports Drinks—Don’t think sports drinks are good for you just because

your favorite athlete gulpsu them down. If you’re not exercising a lot

in the hot sun, avoid these drinks that contain too much sugar.

Not all food that is advertised as healthy or low-fat is actually good for you. Read the

nutritional label6 to learn the real story. By making informed, healthy choices about food and

exercise, getting in shape will be a piece of sugar-free cake.
