Introduction:Originally LTE was seen as a completely IP cellular system which could be used just for carrying data, and operators would be able to carry voice either by reverting to 2G/3G systems, failing which, One Voice / later called Voice over LTE, VoLTE scheme was devised as a result of telecom operators

seeking a standardized system for providing voice over an LTE. It was the option chosen by the GSMA for use of LTE and is the standardized method for providing SMS and voice over LTE.

VOLTE has evolved as a technology which enables a LTE network to complete voice calls on its own and thereby not at all requiring previous technologies(2G/3G) to complete the call.

The knowledge of this course provides the basics of high quality voice and SMS over LTE networks. We will also discuss video and multimedia services over LTE.
