About Shands HealthCareShands HealthCare is private, not-for-profit and affiliated with the University of Florida Health Science Center campuses in Gainesville and Jacksonville. The Shands system is composed of two teaching hospitals, which encompass a children's hospital and cancer hospital; two specialty hospitals; two homecare agencies; and outpatient services, including several rehab centers in Gainesville. Shands is also affiliated with more than 80 University of Florida physician outpatient practices located throughout north central and northeast Florida.

With tram service between this garage and the Medical Plaza, parking here is most convenient for the following Shands Medical Plaza or Davis Cancer Pavilion destinations**:

2. WEST PARKING (TURN ON GALE LEMERAND DRIVE) Parking in this garage is most convenient for UF Dental Clinics and UF Physicians Outpatient Clinics. (Use West Entrance)

3. EAST PARKING (TURN NORTH ON NEWELL DRIVE)*Valet parking is available at Main Entrance. Free parking for Pediatric E.R. patients is available at the Pediatric E.R. Entrance. Parking in this garage is most convenient while visiting patients in the hospital or for radiology, GI, or surgery.

If your care requires you to stay several days, visit the Welcome Center (see map) and ask for a long-term parking permit.

• Vehicles with state-issued handicapped parking permits have access to parking spaces located in the parking lots next to the West Entrance and the Shands Medical Plaza and in visitor and patient parking garages.

• Oversized or recreational vehicles may be parked in the metered lot north of the west parking garage (see map).

4. SOUTH CAMPUS PARKING (TURN SOUTH ON NEWELL DRIVE) *Valet parking is available at the Main Entrance. Free parking for emergency patients is available at the Emergency Entrance. Parking in this lot is most convenient while visiting patients in the Cancer Hospital or the Emergency Department.

Be careful not to park in any area that is indicated as staff or restricted parking.

Free Shuttle ServiceFree shuttles are available for patients and visitors with various pick-up and drop-off points including the West Parking garage, Shands Medical Plaza, Davis Cancer Pavilion, West Entrance, Main Entrance, 1329 Building, Ronald McDonald House, American Cancer Society’s Winn-Dixie Hope Lodge, Children’s Medical Services (Gerold L. Schiebler Building), Renal Dialysis Unit* and Shands Cancer Hospital*.

The shuttles, equipped for persons with disabilities, run every 10 to 15 minutes from 7 am – 9 pm (7 am – 6 pm for Shands Medical Plaza and Davis Cancer Pavilion).
