Biotechnology Explorer Award • Recognizes an outstanding high school teacher who has
made biotechnology learning accessible to the
classroom.
• Teachers in grades 9-12, with 2+ years of experience
teaching biotechnology are eligible.
• Include narrative of how you teach biotechnology,
summary of one project, resume, letters of
recommendation
• Prize: $750 in products, $1000 in expense money
• Additional opportunity to apply for $2K in teacher grant materials
from BioRad

Distinguished Informal Science
Award
• This award honors NSTA members who have
made extraordinary contributions to the
advancement of science education in an informal
or nontraditional school setting.
• Include an abstract, narrative, and vita

national conference

Distinguished Service to Science
Education Award
• These awards honor NSTA members who, through
active leadership and scholarly endeavor over a
significant period of time.

• This award honors NSTA members who are

DuPont Pioneer Excellence in
Agricultural Science Education
Award • This award recognizes excellence and
innovation in the field of agricultural
science education.
• K-12 classroom teachers who implement
agricultural science in their classroom are
eligible. • Prize: $5k for program, and
• Expenses paid to national conference

• This award recognizes NSTA members who have
made extraordinary contributions to science
education through personal commitment to
education
• Include a vita, letter of support, narrative of
accomplishments in teaching, service, or research
• Prize: citation, pin, and one night lodging to attend
the national conference on science education
Promoting Excellence and Innovation in Science Teaching and Learning for All
Legacy Award
• This NSTA award posthumously recognizes long-
standing members of NSTA for significant lifelong
service to NSTA and contributions to science education.
• Include a narrative of their contributions, and letters of
support
• Prize: $500 in expenses, and two night’s lodging to
attend the national conference on science education
Promoting Excellence and Innovation in Science Teaching and Learning for All
Maitland P. Simmons Memorial
Award for New Teachers
• This scholarship provides selected K-12 teachers (up to
25) in their first five years of teaching with funds to
attend the annual National Conference on Science
Education.
• Submit a narrative describing your plans to attend the
national conference, resume, most recent college
transcript, letter of recommendation
• Prize: $1000 to attend the national conference on
science education

Wendell G. Mohling Outstanding
Aerospace Educator Award
• This award recognizes excellence in the field of aerospace education. This year formal K-12 teachers are eligible.
• NSTA with a new partner to be determined
• Include narrative, supporting material, letter of support
• Prize: $3000, and $2000 in expenses to attend the national Conference on science education
Promoting Excellence and Innovation in Science Teaching and Learning for All
Northrop Grumman Engineering
Educator Award
• This award recognizes excellence in the field of engineering education.
• NSTA and the Northrop Grumman Foundation recognize the importance of integrating high-quality engineering instruction into the science classroom and the critical need for making students proficient in the practices used by engineers in the field.
• Prize: $5000 for classroom materials and equipment, a cash prize of $3000, and $2000 to attend the NSTA National Conference on Science Education.

Robert E. Yager Foundation
Excellence in Teaching Award
• The Robert E. Yager Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award will recognize six (6) full-time K–12 teachers of science who successfully use innovation and excellence in their classroom.
• Include a summary, abstract, narrative, and vita describing your outstanding nature contributions in science teaching with specific examples
• Prize: $1,000 towards expenses to attend the NSTA National Congress on Science Education held each summer, and $1,000 for the awardee. An identified Yager Scholar from the six awardees will be given additional support up to $1,500, to present at a future NSTA National Conference on Science Education.

Robert H. Carleton Award
• NSTA's highest honor the Robert H. Carleton Award recognizes one individual who has made outstanding contributions to, and provided leadership in, science education at the national level and to NSTA in particular.
• Include an abstract, narrative, and vita describing your significant contributions in science education
• Prize: $5000, expense paid trip to the national conference on science education

PASCO STEM Educator Awards
• The PASCO STEM Educator awards recognize
excellence and innovation in the field of STEM education
at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.
• A total of 3 awardees are selected annually; one middle,
and two high school levels.
• Include narrative of how you implement STEM, student
examples, one page resume
• Prize: $500, $1000 in expenses, $5000 in PASCO
products

SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment
Environmental Educator of the
Year Award • This award recognizes and rewards one outstanding
teacher that is working at the grass roots level to protect and preserve the environment.
• Submit a five minute video clip, application, narrative
• The deadline for this award is November 30, 2014.
• Prize: $10,000, and an expense paid trip to the national conference on science education, and to SeaWorld in Orlando, FL

Shell Science Teaching Award
• This award recognizes one outstanding classroom
science teacher (K-12) who has had a positive impact on
his or her students, school, and community through
exemplary classroom science teaching.
• Include resume, schedule, narrative
• Prize: $10,000, expense paid trip to the national
conference on science education
• Deadline is November 18th.
Promoting Excellence and Innovation in Science Teaching and Learning for All
Shell Urban Science Educators
Development Award
• This award provides support to seven diverse educators in pursuit of
professional development, and serves to increase the science
educator talent pool of minority educators to meet the education
work force challenge of the future.
• Eligibility: K–12 classroom science teachers in an urban setting.
Classroom science teachers at the elementary, middle or high
school level who are part of underrepresented ethnic groups are
eligible.
• Prize: $1,800 to be used to attend the annual NSTA National
Conference on Science Education. Recipients will be invited to
attend a variety of workshops and presentations that are of
particular interest to urban teachers at the annual National
Conference.

Sylvia Shugrue Award
• This award honors one elementary school teacher
who has established (or is establishing) an
interdisciplinary, inquiry-based lesson plan.
• Include narrative, lesson plan, vita
• Prize: $1000, $500 in expenses to attend the
national conference on science education

Vernier Software & Technology
Awards
• The Vernier Technology Awards recognizes and rewards the innovative use of data collection technology using a computer, graphing calculator, or other handheld device in the science classroom.
• Awards are for 1 elementary, 2 middle level, 3 high school, and 1 college level.
• Include: abstract of program, lab activity or virtual lab activity, vita
• Prize: $1000, $1500 in expenses, and $3000 in Vernier products
