915. “Traction” – Original Art by CCIH Students Bid on this original masterpiece, and have a conversation starter for years to come! A

fantastic addition to any home or office, this 4x4 piece on stretched canvas was created

by students in Contra Costa Interfaith Housing’s (CCIH) East County program in

Pittsburg. This project (which stemmed from a summer art camp) was led by artist and


longtime CCIH volunteer, John Barry. Called “Traction” because of the methods used,

students donned roller blades, and rode on skateboard and bicycles to create the lines and

textures of the piece. “Traction” was created out of the imaginations of our young

students, and their creativity and joy is evident in the final result.
