!
Book Club! The January selection for the Book Club is Kill-
ers of the Flower Moon by David Grann. In the
1920S, the richest people per capita were the
Osage Indian Nation of Oklahoma. After they
had been forcibly removed from their land in
Kansas and sent to Oklahoma, oil was discovered
beneath their land. They built elaborate homesand
sent their children to Europe for education. Then
one by one, they began to be killed off. As the death toll mount-
ed, it caught the eye of the F.B.I. Because the bureau was notori-
ously corrupt at that time, J. Edgar Hoover assigned a Texas
Ranger named Tom White to look into the case. Using the latest
modern technology at that time, he and the Osage exposed one
of the most sinister of conspiracies in American History. This is
an interesting and compelling true story well written in an en-
gaging narrative style. The author, David Grann, opens up a
window on a horrifying event. Come join us on Tuesday, Janu-
ary 2nd in classroom 5 at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome!!
!
Bake Sale!Galilean’s annual Christmas cookie bake sale will
be in the Gathering Room this weekend. Stop in
after Mass and pick up a package of homemade
cookies!!
Postage Stamp Donations! The Catholic ministry at the Cuyahoga County jail will again be
passing out stamped Christmas cards to the inmates. Stamps and
money to purchase stamps are needed. Checks can
be made out to CMTI. There is NO need at this
time for Christmas card donations. Stamp dona-
tions can be given to Fr. Walters or dropped off at
the parish office to his attention. Thank you for
your generosity!!
Bible as Literature! The Bible is the basic text of Western Civilization as well as our
religious tradition. More copies exist than any other text. Possi-
bly, it is the least read and most misunderstood. !
This presentation will expose the professional study over the
past couple centuries and will allow everyone to approach it
with a greater sense of understanding.!!
Some questions that will be addressed: !
What is the difference among the many Bibles that exist?!The best translation?!Who wrote the various books?!What are the Dead Sea Scrolls?!Is there one true Bible?!What types of writing are in it?!What is a Myth?!Was Jesus a historical person?!!
Everyone is welcome to join presenter Michael Petit, a St. Clar-
ence parishioner, Thursday, January 10th, in classroom 8 from
7:00 to 8:30 p.m.!
