1) Attend a VIRTUS training 2) Sign a background authorization form to al-low us to conduct background screening 3) Sign a Code of Conduct annually You have completed steps 1 and 3 but you still need to sign the Background Authorization Form which will enable us to order your back-ground check. You may have already entered this information into your VIRTUS account when you registered for your training, but we must have a signed copy of the Authorization form before we can proceed. Your VIRUS ac-count will remain inactive until this require-ment is taken care of. Please do not volunteer or work directly with children until this requirement is completed. Disasters Emergency Collection
Bishop Rice has requested that this special emergency collection be taken up during the weekend of October 13-14. The funds collected in this special appeal for 2018 Disasters will be used to support the efforts of Catholic Charities USA and/or Catholic Relief Services, the official relief agencies of the U.S. Catholic Church, as they and their local agencies respond to immediate emergency needs for such necessities as wa-ter, food, shelter, and medical care and aid in long term rebuilding and recovery efforts, and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops for pastoral and reconstruction needs of the Church. Funds will be used in response to Hurricane Florence and any other natural disasters that occur this year.

Father Daniel will attend the Annual Priest Institute at Branson, Missouri. This is the time of the year when our Bishops, deacons and priest of our diocese gather together for study and prayer. The Priest Institute will start on Monday, October 22nd. and will be ended on Friday, October 26th. Keep our diocesan priests, deacon and bishops in your prayers!

The Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau reports an allegation of sexual abuse of a minor involving Msgr. John J. Rynish, deceased (2001). The allegation pertains to a period in the early 1970’s. Following procedures outlined in diocesan Safe Environment Policies and procedures, the Diocese has notified civil authorities of the allegation, including Missouri Child Abuse and neglect and the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney. Additionally, pastoral support is being offered to the victim’s family. Msgr. Rynish was born in Kansas City, MO, and ordained a priest in 1943 for the Diocese of Kansas City. The Diocese of Springfield Cape Girardeau was formed in 1956 from territory that was prior to 1956, part of the Archdiocese of St. Louis and the Diocese of Kansas City. Msgr. Rynish retired from active ministry in 1993. He died Sept, 23, 2001. Msgr. Rynish served as Pastor of St. Eustachi-us Parish, Portageville, 1960-1965, as well as elected Diocesan Administrator in 1969, at the departure of then-Bp. Ignatius Strecker until April 6, 1970; again, elected Diocesan Administrator in 1973 for a few months at the departure of then-Bp. William Baum, until Dec. 5, 1973.
BISHOP RICE VISITED TO OUR
SCHOOL. Wednesday morning Bishop Rice Surprised us with a quick visit. Everyone was surprised with his unexpected visit. The Bishop’s visit came in the right moment when the Ladies of First State Community Bank Mrs. Judy Payne and Janna Morris came to our school with a $1000.00 donation to help with the upgrade of our technology at the school.
