Little Bridge is the place to learn English! You can work, learn, relax, play, make friends and chat here.

You'll be surprised how quickly your English will improve!

To access Little Bridge, simply go to www.littlebridge.com, click on the ‘Log in’ button on the homepage (top right) and enter your unique DigiPal name (your user ID) and password.

Let's look at the school first. To go there, select School on the left.

This is where the main learning takes place. There are six different levels. Each level contains 8 units. There is a drawer for each unit, and each drawer contains 8 activities. Your teacher will tell you where to start, and you should work through them in order.

You will see the 2 principal navigation bars on either side of your screen: on the left, the structured activities in the Little Bridge school and on the right, the online community and ‘DigiPals’ community.

As well as the main activities in the drawers, there are Songs, Word Games and Speaking practice too. You'll find all of these in the schoolroom, when you have selected the level you want.

To see your scores, simply click on Scores on the left, and then Scoreboard. While you're doing an activity, your success is shown on screen as stars, and when you get full marks, you'll win a rosette. You can win cups and trophies too, by doing well in all the activities.

At any time your teacher can see how much you have done and how well you're doing. Your teacher can also control what units and activities you have access to. Remember, you can repeat the activities as many times as you like!

The Grammar Factory shows how English grammar works.

The Dictionary will give you a translation of every word that appears in the program. If you click on a word, you'll also hear how it is pronounced.

You must get three stars in every activity to open the game that goes with every two units.

You can have fun looking after Domino the dog and teaching him tricks – but even here you'll have to use English!

The right hand navigation bar is for your homepage, the virtual world and the online community, DigiPals.

‘My page’ is your own, personal starting point in Little Bridge, where you can personalise your avatar and your room, and display your interests and tastes. It is also what any other Little Bridge user around the world will see if they choose to visit you on the online community.

Under this you'll find the Grammar Factory and the Dictionary.

Explore will take you to an overview of the English-speaking town, Little Bridge. By placing your avatar anywhere in Little Bridge and clicking, you'll enter the virtual world. There are games to play here too.

By joining the DigiPals community, you'll discover how English - the international language – can open the world to you!

Any message that does not comply with these three rules will be rejected by the moderators!

You can use the Sentence Maker, where you are offered a menu and just have to choose the words you want.

2 You can type a message yourself. In this case, it will be moderated. That means that it will be checked by someone to make sure that it does not break the community rules.

There are two ways of writing a message:

Alternatively, you can jump into a conversation by clicking on one of the speech bubbles going past at the bottom of the World of DigiPals screen. (Again, you might not get a reply immediately if you message someone on the other side of the world, as it might be night time for them!)

You can invite someone to be your DigiPal by selecting the + sign at the top of their page.

This is where you can really use what you've learned to talk to other English learners around the world. You can either talk to your DigiPals – the people you have already made friends with – or you can go to the World of DigiPals (bottom right) and contact someone new, by simply clicking on their avatar icon on the globe. This will take you to their page, where you can leave a message in their postbox. Remember! If they live on the other side of the world, it may be night time, so they won’t reply immediately.
