Liter of Light● Liter of Light is a nonprofit organization

that caters towards low-income and mainly third world communities.

● The founder Illiac Diaz created liter of light in hopes to create a eco-friendly and economical source of light.

Origin

● Amy Smith an engineer from MIT began experimenting with the ‘Solar Bottle Bulb’ technology after viewing volunteer work in Haiti.

● Through the development of this technology Illiac Diaz was able to begin the construction of ‘Solar Bottle Bulbs’ around the world.

● Liter of Light was launched in the Philippines in April of 2011.

Diffusion

● Liter of Light has been able to install over 12,000 ‘Solar Bottle Bulbs’ in 10,000 homes across, mainly, Southeast Asia.

● With the help of his eight ‘teams’ and shared set of tools Illiac Diaz has been able to light up some of the darkest places around.

Jerome Jarre; international Youtuber helped in a major way to get ‘Liter of “Lights’ message out to the world. With his popularity among Snapchat and Vine he was able to involve his many fans in the phenomena.

Thesis:

Even though there is an abundance of underdeveloped and underprivileged places and people in the world there are still not any solutions to help these people live in habitable areas. ‘Liter of Light’ is a program that helps to make these areas better for these people. Through this program we can also help to severely lower the amount of waste that has been piling up in these areas.
