Introduction List Hub for Office 365 is a Windows Store App designed to interact and interface with Office 365. It

is capable of adding, editing and removing list items from a SharePoint list, out of the box, with no

additional server configuration. Moreover, it displays data in a fluid, touch supported Windows 8 UI

allowing users to literally ‘flick’ through information.

‘Sign in Once’ List Hub for Office 365 uses the built in Windows 8 Credential Manager to store credentials entered

through the App, safely and securely. This gives a ‘Sign in Once’ ability, where the user only ever

needs to sign in one time and for every subsequent run, the App will authenticate on the fly. This

feature is paramount for accessing data quickly without risking security.

Pre-requisites There is no server configuration to do for List Hub for Office 365 to work. The only requirement is a

list called “Latest News” be created with access given to all users.

Sideloading To install a Windows Store App that has not been placed on the Store, there are some simple steps

to sideload it smoothly. It may be necessary to do this if a user had a custom build of List Hub for

Office 365 or a Beta release.

a) Unzip the archive that has been sent to the user

b) Open PowerShell with Administrative rights

c) Run “Set Execution-Policy unrestricted” excluding quotes

d) Navigate to the .ps1 script from within the PowerShell CLI and execute

e) The user will be prompted to obtain a Developer License. This is necessary to sideload a

Windows Store app and will require a Microsoft Account’s authentication. This requirement

is on a recurring monthly cycle but will only be requested when executing the App Package

.ps1 script.

f) The Windows Store App will install successfully and immediately be accessible from the Start

Screen.

Using the App

Signing in

List Hub for Office 365 will prompt the user for login on the first run. The username should be the

full email address used for your Office 365 portal access and the URL should be the full address to

the SharePoint site you wish to show data from. For example, if a list was on a sub site called

‘students’ the full URL would be https://buacademy.sharepoint.com/sites/students . The Remember

me function will save credentials and the URL securely in the Windows 8 Credential Manager.
