“Club neutral” LISOT provides a complete track for sailors – from optimist

development thru 420 and Laser Radial. LISOT attracts full-time, world class, Olympic-level coaches (we have a

strong reputation among coaches) LISOT owns four 2-year old RIB coach boats with trailers, marks &

ground tackle


The LISOT Formula WorksOptimist LISOT has placed more sailors on the US Optimist National Team (USNT) – year after

year – than any other team in the country. LISOT has consistently placed more sailors on USODA International Teams The 2009 Spring US International Optimist Teams have 10 out of 45 sailors that sailed

with LISOTwith LISOT LISOT has represented the US at the Marco Rizzotti Venice Team Regatta four years

straight (2006-2009). LISOT was the first team outside Europe to ever win the regatta. LISOT has represented the US at the Berlin Euro Opti Team Cup for the last three years

(2006-2008)420 7 out of 9 qualified girl teams for the 2009 Youth World Qualifier sailed with LISOT 4 out of 9 qualified boy teams for the 2009 Youth World Qualifier sailed with LISOT 6 out of the first 12 at the 2008 Orange Bowl were LISOT LISOT has, by far, the largest team at all regional and national C420 events 4 of 6 teams selected for US Sailing’s U18 team have trained with LISOT


What We Have Learned Over The Years Young sailors are motivated by immediate goals Late June/Early July is the most important time for training younger

and happy, not freezing or disappointed) Coaching at regattas is primarily about supporting “good decisions,

LISOT Administration – How It Works LISOT is organized as a New York State Not-for-profit. Incorporated in June of 2005 We are a 100% volunteer organization. Only the coaches get paid. Families actively participate in many ways

Interface with their clubs so LISOT can hold practices

Trailer coach boats as necessary (to LI Sound venues and beyond - FL, MN, VA, LA etc.)

Store, launch and clean coach boats and trailers

Buy and prepare water, snacks and food for each event or practice

What LISOT doesn’t do Take responsibility for your sailor each day as JSA clubs do

Take responsibility for transporting or housing sailors (handled privately among families)

Take responsibility for arranging charters, spectator boats, etc

Register sailors for regattas
