Lisbon is becoming one of the most popular cities for young graffiti writers with wide spaces dedicated to these artists where they can express their creativity. Tourists and Lisbon residents who take the Gloria funicular, connecting the lower part of the city to Bairro Alto, pass by the Galeria de Arte Urbana where large panels are periodically renovated by graffiti artists, as of they were theatre sets. The Crono project has commissioned various artists to paint façades of abandoned buildings with huge graffiti, including the six floors of a new parking garage in the city centre, which has been painted by young graffiti writers, such as the Angolan artist Nomen or the ARM artist collective. Finally, the photographer Camilla Watson has taken pictures of people living in the popular neighbourhood of Mouraria and now her photos are exhibited on the walls of these people’s houses.
