Lirio goes to China! Upon beginning high school, our four 2010 graduates never dreamed they would be attending college in another country, let alone in China! God blessed Lirio yet again! Newspaper headlines in Chihuahua are reading “Were Chosen Among Students from 123 Countries”. Pictured above, four of our girls are going to be heading to China on August 23rd to begin the adventure of their life times. These girls applied for a scholarship, that was only going to be granted to 6 students out of 123 countries. Papá, Mamá and the girls spent a lot of time in prayer, assuming that because of the odds and their late applications they would be blessed to have even one of the girls get into the program, never imagining that the girls would be the ones awarded this very prestigious award. “For nothing is impossible with God.” Luke 1:37. The girls were selected, and will be studying in at the University of Ghwan, on a one year, full scholarship where they will have the opportunity to receive a scholarship for the rest of their education. They will be beginning their education with Mandarin classes, and then continuing on with their studies. Each of the girls has a specific calling that God placed on their lives. Elvira has a passion to be an architect. God has confirmed this calling through the scriptures, one of these scriptures was 2 Chronicles 3:1, the building of the Temple. She desires to construct future Lirio de los Valles. Julieta has a heart for missions and desires to be a missionary doctor. After seeing the need for a full time doctor on staff at Lirio she has decided to study medicine. Fabiola has been assisting Brenda in the office here at Lirio for the past few years, through this God has placed the desire to study business management on her heart. She will be pursuing this passion in China, in hopes to one day run a business office for Lirio. Luz Irene has a passion for the hearts of children, she knows, because of her own experiences that Jesus Christ is the only one who can truly heal the broken heart. God has lead her to make the decision to study psychology and she desires to work with children with emotional instabilities. When the children arrive at Lirio, they have been striped of their childhoods, the idea of dreaming is long from their hearts and minds. Their main concern, prior to arriving at Lirio was merely surviving. Papá and Mamá welcome these children into their home with indescribable amounts of love. Elvira specifically remembers how this love felt when she first arrived at Lirio, “First they hugged me, then all of the children clapped and welcomed me home. This is when I knew my life was going to change forever, I was loved for the very first time.” This love is how Lirio operates, and through this love Papá and Mamá encourage the children to always dream and dream big. They remind them of the story of Joseph who dreamed and his dreams took him all the way to the Pharaoh. Because of the impartations of dreams, we have now had 8 high school graduates that are continuing on to receive their college degrees. Thank you for your prayers and support, you are sowing in excellent ground! In photo: Our four girls at Graduation.
