If I may be so bold, I want to pose the same questions to you: HOW brightly does your light shine in your family, in your workplace, and with your friends? WHY is it so important that it does? Think through this with me for a moment - What does a light do? It shows the way. It brings things out that were once hidden. It diminishes fear of the unknown. If we are to shine our light for these purposes, where is that light going to come from? Jesus calls Himself “the light of the world”, John called him, “the light that shines in the darkness”, and the Bible teaches that, “When we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another.” If I am reading the Word, taking time for prayer and worship then He will walk with me in the light, and He will shine through in my words, actions, attitude, love, compassion, and forgiveness. And why is this so important? The more I sing, “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine”, and the louder I sing it, the more people will hear it. My responsibility as a follower of Jesus is to live a life so transformed by the Word and the presence of Christ that everyone can see His light reflected in me. But shining His light isn’t about me; it’s about showing others the love of Christ that their lives may be transformed as well, that Christ may bring them out of their darkness and into His marvelous light. It is so important because lives are at stake. Eternity is at stake. I want to encourage you to brighten your light in this dark world and partner with ZLS this month in showing our students how to shine for Christ. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16. “Shine Your Light” This month’s student character focus is “Shining Light”. We are asking our students to reflect on how brightly their light shines in their classrooms and in our school.

Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16.

Zion Lutheran School depends on its parent and fami-ly volunteers to carry out the work of Jesus Christ. Working together makes that work easy, fun, and binds us together in fellowship. The team concept allows for parents to volunteer the spe-cific talents and gifts they possess in a time frame that works for them. It also allows for easy transitions as our parents’ life commitment levels change. How Do the Teams Work? Each team has a captain or set of co-captains along with a staff sponsor who will work together to set goals for the school year. The captain then recruits teammates to carry out those goals.• Captains can run events or recruit others to run events – share the load!• You can be a part of 1 team or several• You can be a part of just 1 event or all events for that team Where Can I Sign Up? We need captains for every team. Captain alone or co-captain with friends; either way, contact the staff sponsor listed for the team in which you are interested.

Ananda Baron, Principal: [email protected] Stelling, Admissions & Marketing Director: [email protected]

If there is a team or specific event that looks interesting to you and fits your gifts and abilities, contact the Mrs. Baron or Mrs. Stelling to sign up.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works

and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5: 16-18

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be pa-tient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is

over all and through all and in all.
