President’s Report:

Sorry to have missed the last dinner meeting. Work commitments??Went with Noelene, Grahame and Colleen to ‘Balloons Over Waikato’. What an amazing sight, watching the balloons inflate and then take off. The 5 o’clock alarm was a bit disturbing, but the effort was worth it.The event was lucky with the weather and a good crowd turned out. I do believe the Friday night in Tokoroa was a great event.DG Paula was at our board meeting and accepted a cheque for $2000 towards the ‘Ronald McDonald Retreat’ in Rotorua. DG Paula also contributed to our meeting with her knowledge of what was happening in our district. As a result we were able to donate $500 to the Morrinsville Club to put towards a dialysis equipped motorhome so those patients are able to have a short break away or attend family events. We also gave $400 to Nikita Lyons, who has been selected to enhance her education. At the Dinner Meeting we will be presenting cheques ($2000 each) to the Cancer Lodge, Air Ambulance and St John’s Te Awamutu.By the time you get this newsletter Rachel will have had her plant sale. Hope all went well and thanks to all who gave Rachel a hand.See you at tea on the 21st.

John Wood

We’re very sorry to hear that Sabina is not in the best of health

It was a great day thanks to Rachel, and Jim B tells me it grossed $957.20 (expenses still to come out)There may be more to come, as I believe a spot is booked at next week’s TA boot sale to sell some of the remaining plants.

Lexophiles "Lexophile" is a word used to describe those that have a love for words, like: You can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish, or: To write with a broken pencil is . . . pointless.

When fish are in schools, they sometimes . . . take debate.

A thief who stole a calendar . .. . got twelve months.

When the smog lifts in Los Angeles . . . U.C.L.A.

The batteries were given out . . . free of charge.

A dentist and a manicurist married. . . . They fought tooth and nail.

A will is a . . . dead giveaway.

With her marriage, she got a new name . . . and a dress.

A boiled egg is . . . hard to beat.

When you've seen one shopping centre . . . you've seen a mall

A bicycle can't stand alone . . . it is two tired.

When a clock is hungry . . . it goes back four seconds

The guy who fell onto an upholstery machine . . . was fully recovered.

He had a photographic memory . . . which was never developed.

Those who get too big for their britches will be . . . exposed in the end.

When she saw her first strands of gray hair . . . she thought she'd dye.

Acupuncture: . . . a jab well done.

The Murphys Laws are over the page

Law of Random Numbers - If you dial a wrong number, you never get a busy signal and someone always answers.

Supermarket Law - As soon as you get in the smallest line, the cashier will have to call for help.

Variation Law - If you change lines (or traffic lanes), the one you were in will always move faster than the one you are in now.

Law of the Bath - When the body is fully immersed in water, the telephone rings.

Law of Close Encounters - The probability of meeting someone you know increases dramatically when you are with someone you don't want to be seen with.

Law of the Result - When you try to prove to someone that a machine won't work, it will.

Law of Biomechanics - The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to your ability to reach the spot.

Law of the Theatre & Sports Arena - At any event, the people whose seats are furthest from the aisle always arrive last. They are the ones who will leave their seats several times to go for food, drink, or the toilet and who leave early before the end of the performance or the game is over. The folks in the aisle seats come early, never move once, have long gangly legs or big bellies and stay to the bitter end of the performance. The aisle people also are very surly folk.

The Coffee Law - As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your wife will ask you to do something which will last until the coffee is cold.

Law of Lockers - If there are only 2 people in a locker room, they will have adjacent lockers.

Law of Physical Surfaces - The chances of an open-faced jam sandwich landing face down on a floor are directly correlated to the newness and cost of the carpet or rug.

Law of Logical Argument - Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about.

Law of Physical Appearance - If the clothes fit, they're ugly.

Law of Public Speaking - A closed mouth gathers no feet.

Law of Commercial Marketing Strategy - As soon as you find a product that you really like, they will stop making it.

Doctors' Law - If you don't feel well, make an appointment to go to the doctor, by the time you get there you'll feel better. But don't make an appointment, and you'll stay sick.
