1. Walk over to the Lloyd Center MAX (light rail) stop
2. Optional: Walk through the Lloyd Center and watch the iceskaters; exit the Lloyd Center on the lower level

4. Take MAX Light Rail to the Old Town / China Town stop(the first stop after the river)
5. Optional: On Saturday or Sunday exit at the SkidmoreFountain stop (under the Burnside Bridge) and visitthe Saturday Market (craft vendors, music and food)
6. Visit the Classical Chinese Garden
7. Optional: Enjoy refreshments at the Tea House
8. Walk along NW Everett through the North Park blocks toPowell’s City of Books at Burnside and NW 10th Ave.
9. Optional: Take a detour to see the square and fountain atNW Gilson and NW 10th
10. Visit Powell’s Books
11. Optional: Enjoy refreshments in their café or Italian icecream at Mio Gelato across the street on NW 11th Ave.

From the Lion and the Rose …
1. Walk over to the Lloyd Center MAX stop
2. Buy an All Day Ticket at the fare machine (credit cards accepted).If you are age 65 or older buy Honored Citizen tickets.
3. Take MAX Light Rail Red or Blue line through downtown
4. Optional: Exit at Pioneer Square and stop at the Visitor’s Bureau
5. Continue on MAX and exit at the Washington Park Stop (inside the tunnel)
6. Be sure to see the 200’ core sample mounted along the walls of the platform
7. Take elevator up 200’ to Washington Park
8. Optional: Visit Oregon Zoo and/or Viet Nam Memorial
9. Take shuttle bus or Bus 63 (or the Zoo train) to Rose Garden andJapanese Garden. (This is too far to walk.)
10. Visit the gardens; for directions, ask at the Rose Garden gift shop
11. To return … take bus back to MAX or bus 63 to go back downtown

12. To continue your tour … walk down to NW 23rd Ave. via SW Rose Garden Blvd., whichbecomes SW Sacajawea Blvd., right on SW Washington Way, right on SW Lewis & ClarkCircle, right on SW Park Place, left on SW Vista which becomes NW 23rd.
13. Walk north on NW 23rd (street names go up alphabetically after Burnside)
14. Many places to shop and eat … Papa Hayden’s is our favorite
15. Optional: Also visit shops and restaurants on NW 21st,Wildwood at NW 21st and Overton) is our favorite
16. To return directly to the Lion and the Rose … board Bus 77 at NW 22nd and Everett;get off at Weidler and NE 15th (2 blocks south of the Lion and the Rose)
17. To continue your tour … board the Portland Street Car at NW 23rd and Marshall (11 blocksnorth of Burnside)
18. Optional: Exit at NW 11th and NW Everett to tour the Pearl District
19. Optional: Exit at NW 11th and NW Couch to visit Powell’s Books
20. Exit and transfer to MAX at SW 11th and SW Yamhill
21. Optional: Stay on Street Car. Goes by South Park Blocks and Portland State to SouthWaterfront, Take back to SW 10th at Yamhill (40 min.)
22. Optional: Visit Pioneer Square before getting on MAX
23. Take MAX Blue or Red line east to the Lloyd Center – NE 11th Ave. stop
