History • Linking road was one of the first arterial roads

• The road linked the far-flung suburbs of Bandra and Juhu during the 40s

• Official name “Vitthalbhai Patel Marg”

• The original name was Dadabhai Navroji road

Location and Opening Hours • Stretches some 200 metres• The road starts from the 5-way cross-roads near the Hindustan

Milestones• In the 1990’s mall such as Zen, Naganis where famous at linking road,

specially for ladies wear and accessories• With more of road side ‘bakdas’ increasing in categories such as

footwear , bags, accessories, clothing• In the late 1990’s coming of Mc Donalds has given shoppers a new

experience to shop by walking on streets and have a good meal at Mc Donalds

• In 2000 Gazebo shopping was a success factor of linking road,wherein at one stop everything was available clothing,accessories etc,moreover the famous sandwiches and chat outside

• With FDI coming in India many retail stores where open at linking road such as Levis,Mango,celio,tommy hilfiger,united colors of benetton which made peoples shopping more special and not only middle class but higher middle class also started to shop.

place to eat at places such as kfc ,gazebo chat etc and simultaneously shop for everything at affordable prices

• In mid 2000’s the link square mall became famous specially with its clothing for boys at affordable price and opening of magnet

Current Scenario• Licensing• Most of the shops and stalls have now shifted to the new malls like Link

Square etc as they can charge extra• During most of the seasons, discounts are running around in many stores

adjacent to these stalls
