• After a networking event and meeting new contacts, find them on LinkedIn and request a connection within 24 hours.

• Do not use the message that LinkedIn auto fills when sending a connection request. Instead, write your own message, explain why you want to connect, thank them for talking with you and mention something specific that you talked about.

• Connect with the members of the groups you are in.

• If you are engaging with the members in your groups, connect with them on LinkedIn to continue the engagement.
