LinkedIn Profile Checklist

We have put together the following checklist to help you fully complete your LinkedIn profile to help ensure that you get the best response from your LinkedIn marketing.

Using the guidance below, please put together the information ready for loading up into your LinkedIn profile.

Andrew Shelton Shelton Associates 1. Image-Please ensure that we have a good picture of you. Full face and headshot,

preferably on a plain white background. Do not include your company logo in the headshot- people want to know that the profile is a real human being.

2. Headline at the Top of the Profile- Essentially highlighting what you do! Job titles are largely meaningless; describe what you do in real English. For example:- ‘Sheffield Marketing Consultant, Marketing Training, Marketing Coaching, Lead Generation, Market Research, CMS Pro’ has a more of an impact then ‘Owner at Shelton Associates’. Sell yourself.

3. Summary- Description of what the company does- Make this somewhere between 200 and 500 words.

4. Where you work (Experience). Put your current company name in here. Dates, position, what the company does, what you do for the company (Role)-include relevant keywords. Do the same for your previous jobs.

5. Education- Include where you have studied. People may want to connect and do business with you as you have something in common because you studied at the same University for example. Outline which secondary school you went to (dates etc) and the same for Colleges/University. Outline details of qualifications obtained

6. Website- You can include 3 website addresses, plus your Twitter page, so make the most of this.

7. Contact details. If you want to sell something, make sure that people can ring you up to buy it.

8. Endorsements Won’t hurt to be endorsed! List which skills you want to be endorsed for which would impress potential customers

9. Recommendations – can we get some? Ask clients, ex bosses and colleagues to recommend you.

10. Hobbies and Interests-List these as they may be of interest to potential clients eg Harley Davidson Owner..
