Linked Activities and Cross Pipeline
Nominations
1
LINK® System Customer Interface
Linked Activity • Provides the ability to nominate across Enbridge Inc.’s pipeline’s and storage facilities, or between
mainline and laterals within a pipeline. More specifically, multiple combinations of activities and transaction types can be linked where two Enbridge Inc. business units have an Interconnect Point, Head of Lateral Point, Storage Point, or In-Line Transfer Point based on the Dn Name/Dn K or Up Name/Up K matching the activity to be connected.
• If a nomination is created for any of the connected activities, the system will auto generate nominations for the other activities.
• All existing contractual limitations will be enforced on the auto generated nominations.
• The nomination quantity will match between all connected activities and any change in quantity will be propagated through the entire chain. This change could be manual by the end user, a reduction by a confirming party, a scheduling reduction, or another on-line or batch reduction.
• If a timely nomination is part of a Linked Activity, and one side of the nomination is reduced, all nominations will be reduced by an equal amount adjusted for fuel.
• If any nomination is intraday, and any one of the matching pieces is not confirmed within four hours, all pieces of the Linked Activity will not be scheduled.
• If any nominations need manual approval from SET, no nomination in that Linked Activity will be scheduled until the manual approval is done.

To view and create
Linked Activities, the
Linked Activity screen is
used. The Linked
Activity screen is located
under the “Related
Screens” dropdown from
the “Nomination” screen.
Simply enter a contract
you want to connect in a
Linked Activity in the
“Svc Req K” field, add
the nomination dates in
the “Beg Date” and ‘End
Date” fields and then
select ‘Linked Activity”
from the “Related
Screens” dropdown.

After selecting “Linked
Activity” from the
“Related Screen”
dropdown, the following
screen will be displayed.
For this contract, Linked
Activities have not been
entered as indicated by
the message in the
bottom left that states
“NO MATCHES
FOUND”. If existing
active Linked Activities
had been created the
screen would have
retrieved them.

The “Beg Date”, “End Date”
and “Svc Req K” fields are
passed from the
“Nomination” screen and
represent the nominating
contract and dates. The
“Group Id” and “Active
Only” fields are filters used
to retrieve records based on
entered criteria. The “Group
Id” is the unique id that
represents a single Linked
Activity. The Linked
Activity, no matter how
many activities connected, is
one unit of work and is
identified in whole by the
“Group Id”. The “Active
Only” field, if checked, will
retrieve only active Linked
Activities.

6
To create a Linked
Activity, the first step
is to click on the
“New” button. This
will create a blank row
in the data grid. For
each activity you want
to link, a new row
must be added.

Linked Activity (Within Business Unit)
7
After the blank rows
have been added, the
“Group Id” will default
to 0. However, once
submitted, the “Group
Id” will be updated to a
number that uniquely
identifies the Linked
Activity. The next
column, “Seq Nbr”,
identifies the order in
which the activities are
connected. So, the first
activity in the link will be
labeled 1, the second
activity in the link will be
2 and the last activity in
the link will be 3.

8
After “Seq Nbr”, the “Svc
Req K” and “Act Cd” must
be entered in to identify the
activity you are trying to
link. Please note that,
activities can only be linked
at balancing points, so the
system will validate that the
activity has a Head of
Lateral, Storage Point, or In-
Line Transfer Point on the
correct side of the
transaction.
Once the activity code has
been entered, the “Rec Loc
Prop” and “Del Loc Prop”
fields will be populated from
the activity chosen.

The last few fields are
defaulted but can be updated
if needed. The ‘TT” field
will default to “01” which
indicates current business.
However, the “01” can be
updated based on the type of
transaction you are trying to
create. Also, the group dates
default to the current date
and 01/01/2200 respectively.
Both of these date fields can
be changed based on when
you want the Linked Activity
activated. Lastly, if “Sync
Rank” is checked, rankings
will be synchronized through
the entire Linked Activity
and any change in rankings
will be propagated through
the entire chain.

After the first activity has
been added to the group,
enter the next activity in the
sequence that you want to be
linked. These activities are
added the exact same way as
the first but using different
contracts and activity codes.
Please note the system will
validate that the “Dn K”/“Dn
Name” matches the
nominating contract for the
next activity connected and
that the ‘Up K”/ “Up Name”
matches the preceding
activity connected.

When all of the activities have been added, the next step is to press “Submit”. An accepted message will appear in
the lower left-hand corner if successful.
Please note that once submitted activities cannot be added or removed from the group. In addition, an activity and
transaction type combination cannot be used in multiple groups across the same date range. To use them in multiple
groups, the package id field should be used to create a new activity.
After the Linked Activity setup is completed, the customer can nominate on any of the activities in the group and
nominations will be auto generated for the other activities for the nominated date range. Auto-generation of
nominations will occur immediately after one of the Linked nominations is updated and the nomination “Submit”
button is pressed

Activating and
deactivating Linked
Activities is simply a
matter of changing the
‘Beg Date” and “End
Date” of the particular
group that represents the
Linked Activity. The
Linked Activity is only
active for the date range
provided.

To determine if a nomination
is part of a Linked Activity
from the ‘Nomination
Screen” scroll to the very
end of the grid using the
scroll bar at the bottom of
the screen and view the “Lnk
Act” column for that
nomination. If the “Lnk
Act” indicator is checked
then the nomination in
linked. If the indicator is
blank the nomination is not
linked at this time. Please
note that you can move this
column by customizing its
placement in the nomination
grid.

To view nomination
quantities for the entire
Linked Activity, use the
Linked Activity Detail
screen. This screen provides
a detailed view of the entire
Linked Activity by showing
the requested quantities,
scheduled quantities and
reduction codes if any one of
the nominations were
reduced. From the Linked
Activity screen, highlight a
Linked Activity and then
select “Linked Activity
Detail” from the “Related
Screen” dropdown.

Following the same process as creating
Linked Activities, you can connect
activities across business units at SET
interconnect points.
To link the activity illustrated, Activity 1
from Egan contract 310681 would be
linked with Activity 2 from Texas Eastern
contract TRN101 at the interconnect point
45115/75332 and Activity 2 from Texas
Eastern contract TRN101 would be linked
with Activity 4 from Algonquin contract
TRN101 at the interconnect point
70087/00210, forming one unit of work
across business units. Creating a
nomination on any one of these activities
would auto generate nominations on each
business unit for all the other activities
joined.
LINK® System Customer Interface
Use the “New” button on the
“Linked Activity” screen to add
each one of the above individual
activities to the Linked Activity.
The screen can be accessed from
any business unit that is going to
be connected in the Linked
Activity.
The business unit needs to be
selected from the dropdown to
select the appropriate company
that is to be connected. The
Linked Activities must be entered
in sequence by the direction of
flow. In the example, the first
activity, sequence number 1 is on
Egan. The second activity,
sequence number 2 is on Texas
Eastern. The last activity,
sequence number 3 is on
Algonquin.

Next, add the appropriate
contract and activity for each
business unit selected. The
system will validate that the
contract and activity added are
from the selected pipe and that
the correct side of the activity is a
SET Interconnect point.
In addition, the system will
validate that the “Dn K”/“Dn
Name” matches the nominating
contract for the next activity
connected and that the “Up K”/
“Up Name” matches the
preceding activity connected just
like creating a Linked Activity
within a business unit.

To determine if the nomination has been
scheduled and balanced on each business unit, a
status field has been added to the “Nomination”
screen at the end of the grid called “CP Status” .
(Please note that you can use the “Grid
Preferences” functionality to customize the
placement of this column.)
The “CP Status” field can have the values “P”
(Pending) or “C” (Complete). The “CP Status”
field will be “P” if any of the nominations on any
business unit have not been scheduled or if the
nominations across business units have not been
forced balanced to the lowest volume.
The “CP Status” field will be “C” when all
nominations for the Linked Activity are
scheduled and balanced. The nominations will be
scheduled with the normal business unit batch
process and balanced at the end of every batch
run.
For continuous pipes (TE, AGT, MNUS) this
balancing will occur at the end of the timely and
hourly runs. For NAESB cycle pipes (ET, SV)
this balancing will occur at the end of each cycle.
For SESH, nominations will be balanced at the
timely, evening and hourly runs. Lastly, for
MNCA, EG, and MB intraday nominations are
manually approved by a SET account manger and
will not be balanced until this approval is
complete.
