Objectives

GEOVI QUA will scientifically explore methodologies for extending the GEOSS Common I nfrastructure (GCI ) adding r igorous data quality

in search and visualisation GEO Portal. GEOVI QUA wil l provide innovative components for augmenting the GEOSS and its adoption by

the communit ies; contr ibuting to catalyze research and development ( R&D) activit ies on GEO ( GEO task S T- 09- 01) and contr ibuting

to the GEO Label development ( GEO task S T- 09- 02) . Methodologies for extending the cur rent GCI wi l l be explored and the new

components validated through AI Ps to come ( GEO 2009- 2011 WORK PLAN) .

• Qual i ty in format ion based on provenance in format ion descr ib ing the processing and qual i ty

control appl ied to the data in the current operat ional set t ing.

• Qual i ty informat ion based on quant i tat ive assessment of the uncerta inty associated wi th the

data. In the case of remote sensing images, uncertaint ies are based on pre-launch “uncertainty
