AREAS OF INTEREST:

Research: • Evaluation of pain, physical and functional capacity and

the relationship between structure (cellular level) and function (whole body level) in individuals with musculoskeletal (cervical and lumbar spine pain & dysfunction, ACL deficiency, total hip and knee replacements) and endocrine disorders (growth hormone deficiency & excess).

• Development and evaluation (structure, process, outcome) of new integrated models of interprofessional care for patients awaiting total hip or knee replacement surgery (pre, peri and post-operative).

• The effects of muscle compounds (anabolic steroids, anti-myostatin antibodies) and exercise on sarcopenia using models of osteoarthritis, cachexia (cancer, HIV) and hypogonadism.

Teaching: • Orthopaedics/musculoskeletal – focus on integrating evidence into

clinical practice and interprofessional education for advanced practice rehabilitation professionals.

• Exercise Physiology – using exercise as a stimulus to diagnose dysfunction and establish individualized programs for patients with cardiovascular, musculoskeletal and metabolic disorders.

• Endocrinology – educating rehabilitation professionals to recognize the signs and symptoms of endocrine disorders that may impact rehabilitation of the patients they treat.
