DESCRIPTION

Lillian E. McCain, an only child, of William and Estelle Braziel was born February 10, 1928 in Birmingham, Alabama. The most important thing that Lillian's parents instilled in her was to get her education and graduate. She rose to the occasion in 1945, when she graduated with honors at the age of 16. Three years later Lillian was married to Frank Hawkins, Sr. and this union was blessed with one son, Frank, Jr. Her marriage to Frank didn't work out and years later, in the early 50's she was reunited with her high school sweetheart, William McCain and they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where their family was blessed with four more children, Eddie Mae, Kenneth Curtis, Wanda Ann and Baby Cynthia. Lillian put her heart and soul in raising her children, as a sinlge parent. Times were hard but she pushed on, taking them to church and making sure each of them graduated high school, as she did. Lillian who was known throughout the neighborhood helped many children and she had a giving spirit. She never drove an automobile, but she managed to take her children and other kids on outings on public transportation. She was very intelligent. She read all the time even at the very end when she was at Harmony Court Nursing Home. She had high morals, principles and values and passed them on to her children. She said, "You are no better than anybody, but you are no less." We will miss this great amazing woman.Lillian leaves to cherish her precious memories to: five children, Frank Hawkins, Jr., Eddie Mae (Jerome, deceased) Strauss, Kenneth Curtis McCain, Wanda Butler (deceased) and Cynthia Davis; nine grandchildren, nine great grandhcildren, four great-great grandchildren, a host of relatives from Birmingham, Alabama and friends.Her living was not in vain because she helped so many along the way.Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Friday, September 4, 2015, at the Walker - Reading Road Chapel , 3939 Reading Road , Cincinnati (45229). When Tomorrow Starts Without Me When tomorrow starts without me and I’m not there to see;

If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears of me;

I wish so much you wouldn’t cry, the way you did today,

while thinking of the many things we didn’t get to say.

But when tomorrow starts without me,

Please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name,

And took me by the hand. And said my place was ready,

And that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love.

If I could relive yesterday, just even for a while,

I'd say good-bye and kiss you and maybe see you smile.

So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart

For every time you think of me, I’m right there in your heart.
