We go on about “less is more”- which we define as the principle that good design can lead to

more efficient use of materials and less consumption of resources with no sacrifice in utility. This

show presents two challenges. The first, to make use of the unique properties of industrial wool felt

— its density, texture, pliability, a

nd strength. And second, to transform a flat surface into a volume

using only the simplest of operations. As it happens, these challenges turned out to be mutually

beneficial. The solutions become interesting forms with inherent functionality. Berkeley, California–

based designer, Josh Jakus is dedicated to making experiential connections between form and

function. His UM Bags are designed to foster a more intuitive understanding of all objects in the

people who use them. When open, the piece lays completely flat. When zipped, the piece turns

into an organic 3-dimensional form. Minimalist, mathematical and marvelous.

Dear Ms. Kaufmann,

We are an new Early Learning Center located in Midtown Atlana. We just completed our first quarter with our students and it was a huge success! The students are meeting and exceeding the goals that have been set for the program.

Briefly, our program focuses on engaging young people artistically. Our program features 5 tracks: Musical Performance, Dance, Theatre, Fine Arts and Art Appreciation. We service youth from all communities around Atlanta and are excited about the community involvement that we are building through the children’s parents, teachers and sponsors.

We would love to be able to showcase the abilities and accomplishments of the students in the program. We are aware that your station highlights one community group or organization a month for their work with uplifting and encouraging Atlantans. Our program is doing just this and an opportunity to share this with a larger audience would be exactly what is necessary to increase momentum and have an even greater impact.

If you are interested in talking with, visiting or filming Sprout, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Thank you,

Keith RamseySchool Director

1 Corinthians 9:24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—

and

not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
