6:00 PMTraditional Worship, Oxmoor Sanctuary

Our scripture focus this month for our Multiply campaign has come from the gospel of John where Jesus feeds the five thousand. Before the fish and the loaves are multiplied, that little boy has no idea what his gift will do. He gives it all the same, sacrificing what he can, in response to Christ’s call. The one gift from that little boy becomes a feast for thousands, and it’s not just the gift that’s multiplied, it’s the giving itself. He gives to the disciples, they give it to Jesus, Jesus gives it back to God, then gives it to the disciples, who give it to a hungry crowd - that’s a lot of giving!

When we give in such a way that our lives have to change, that change is multiplied in the lives of others. When we give like that, our resources aren’t just enough, there will be baskets of leftovers. And that’s how the world gets changed. When we present all of who we are to God, we see what is possible when the people of God live in joy and trust and unity –we are more than the sum of our parts.

God is in the business of growth, and when God is involved, growth is not incremental, it is exponential. The call of God on the church is to multiply. To envision the radical growth of joy, people, generosity, and mission that happens when our lives are given over to God.

That all begins in a single heart. The heart of a boy with five barley loaves and two fish.

The heart of a disciple, choosing to change their lifestyle so that another life might be changed.

During all services at both campuses on Sunday, March 18, we will have the opportunity to celebrate God’s grace and generosity as we make our financial commitments to Multiply.
