Distracted drivers and congested roadways present rapidly growing dangers tomotorcyclists. Studies indicate that the predominating cause of motorcycle accidents is the failure to be seen by other motorists.
With limited visibility products on the market, our product aims to augment the visibility of motorcyclists and reduce accidents with motorists. With many riders already usingbackpacks, our product increases visibilty through an innovative hardshell backpack with integrated LED safety lights and the added feature of personal electronics charging. - Optimize day and night visibility of the rider- Charge small electronic devices- Maintain functionality in the temperature and humidity range of all four seasons- Require only basic installation on vehicle- Allow storage capacity of an average backpack- Product should be aesthetically appealing
Redesign for manufacture:- Upgrade lights to Automotive OEM grade LED lights- Change battery technology from NiMH to Li-Ion (not selected for prototype due to safety concerns in event of motorcycle crash)- Reduce cost to under $100 when produced in large volumes
