1.0 Lighting Design – Summary Scope of Works

As part of the private subdivision development it is required that sufficient illumination be provided to aid in the facilitation of safe movement through the local streets. The aim of this report is to demonstrate a compliant lighting design in accordance client’s requirements using the standards for street lighting as a guide. An energy efficient LED lighting design has been submitted with this design report as detailed below. The lighting shall generally be designed in accordance with the illuminance requirements for lighting subcategory P4 local roads. This design is utilising the VFL520 LED luminaires post top mounted on 4m poles. Lighting Design & Technology Review

WE-EF LIGHTING is numbered among the pioneers of LED applications and, with its extensive knowledge and experience has brought technological developments to market maturity that have resulted in particularly efficient lighting solutions. Light Emitting Diodes have been available as a new source of light for about a decade. With some of the most recent improvements in the development of LED chip technology including the newly released Cree XP-G2 and XP-L LEDs now being fitted across the full WE-EF LIGHTING product range. WE-EF LIGHTING is in a position where the existing compact fluorescent and metal halide technologies can be superseded by LED alternatives, and with most cases for a better than like for like alternative, at lower wattages with increased pole spacing's, hence using less luminaires resulting in significantly lower installation and operating costs. Along with the various optic distributions available lighting designs can be specifically tailored to suit various project scenarios resulting in personalised energy efficient designs. VFL luminaires come complete with integral surge protection and 10 year warranties such the assurance that limited maintenance will also be required. Some of the other benefits of LED compared to compact fluorescent and metal halide include:

- Lower operating wattages hence reduced running costs - Significantly Increased service life - Increased efficacy - Improved control of light - Reduced maintenance costs - Reduced environmental impact (Life Cycle Analysis) - Improved Uniformity

Summary

The latest range of LED chips have been utilised in the luminaires within this design resulting in an efficient design compared to a typical higher wattage discharge luminaire lighting scheme. For compliance in accordance with the client’s requirements, the illuminance requirements for lighting subcategory P4 local road lighting schemes are determined based on a pre-set range of technical parameters to be achieved including, average & minimum horizontal illuminance and illuminance uniformity. Using the LED luminaires with the various optic distributions gives us the flexibility to match like for like a typical discharge lighting scheme, and in some cases reducing the amount of luminaires at a significantly lower wattage, therefore significantly reducing the installation and operating costs, resulting in a much more efficient design. With significant long lamp life, >100,000 hours assumed, very minimal maintenance will be required.

Comments : • Due to the development being private the lighting design is aiming to comply with the illuminance requirements for lighting subcategory P4 local roads using AS/NZS 1158.3.1 as a guide. Partial compliance to AS/NZS 1158 has been achieve where possible, a 10% pole spacing factor has been adopted due to coordination with driveways, parking bays and lot boundaries. Where speed control devices - speed humps have been shown, a luminaire has been placed near, where possible, to ensure higher illuminance levels are visible, except for outside lot 75/76 where it is recommended the speed hump be relocated, if possible

• Lighting design complies with the E24 requirements for spill light onto the residential windows and the neighbouring boundary • VFL luminaires are post top mounted on 4m poles with poles set back 1m behind the kerb face where possible. Due to limited locations where poles can be placed the distance has been

reduced and it recommended a risk assessment be carried out to determine acceptance • Luminaire colour temperature 3000K • Lighting design excludes tie in details to the existing adjoining roads and intersections

2.1 LED Lifetime Lumen Depreciation Curve

The life span curves published by LED manufacturers are based on values measured over extended periods of time. The combination of relevant test results (LM80) with mathematical methods allows statements to be made about LED behaviour over a considerably greater period of time (TM21).

TM-21 Requires we only state up to 6 times the measured LM80 resultsLamp Lumen Depreciation = 0.97 Cleaning Cycle (4year)= 0.89This produces a Light Loss Factor = 0.863 at 700mA
