LIGHTING IDEAS
• Pop music videos are very expensively made worldwide by many different producers and artists, I want my music video to look as realistic as possible.• The lighting which is often conventional in pop music videos is bright,
bold, and very colourful. • The lighting in music videos is a very important aspect of them, they
enhance the music video by a whole new level. Lighting in pop music videos is often very dramatic and exaggerated to fit the music category.• My song is from the pop genre but is a slowed down love song, but I still
want to incorporate the lighting ideas of a conventional pop music video to make sure it is realistic and believable.
LIGHTING THAT IS EXPECTED IN A POP MUSIC VIDEO
• The song that I am doing my music video to is a slow, pop love song. The narrative needs to be reflected through my choice of lighting.• At some points of my music video I need my lighting to be very
dark and dramatic. • But a lot of my music video is in fact set outside so I will need
to adjust the camera settings to make the footage not blurry and of good quality.• Also I will have to do some recording of the moon and stars so I
will have to make sure I am in a low light area and set my camera to night scene to be able to record the sky clearly.
LIGHTING IN MY MUSIC VIDEO
At the beginning of my music video the location is pink/purple in colour so I will need the lighting to be bright and colourful at this point. The colourful lighting will reinforce the narrative. When the location is set in a graveyard or in the dark locations (woods, fields) the lighting for the cameras will be dark (blues, reds) which have specific connotations for the audience.
