Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes

The Samaritan’s Purse project Operation Christmas Child collects shoebox gifts - filled with fun toys, school supplies and hygiene items– and delivers them to children in need around the world to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way. For many of these children, the gift-filled shoebox is the first gift they ever received. Since 1993, Operation

Christmas Child has collected and delivered more than 157 million shoebox gifts to children in more than 160 countries and territories. Lighthouse Church has always served as a collection center for shoeboxes that are gathered in November from our church, community and county. Jane Hines and the late Delores Haines introduced us to this wonderful ministry. We would like to have a packing party by the fall of 2019. In order to do this, we would like to collect various items on a monthly basis, especially items that are on clearance at retail stores. For January, we would like to gather hats, gloves and scarves. There will be a collection container located by the Welcome Center for you to drop in your donations. Hopefully, we can gather enough items to have a huge packing party in the fall. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Tracey Hecker at 913-731-6337 or email at [email protected].

The Wellness Revelation What would it take for you to make a change? Weight loss can sometimes be a very self-focused endeavor. Maybe you have struggled with your weight your entire life, riding a constant roller coaster of numbers that go up and down. Or maybe you are finding your-self more stressed out by the world and all its demands. Perhaps you just don’t feel as well in your body as you do in your spirit. In The Wellness Revelation, certified fitness professional Alisa Keeton will challenge you to get fit with God so that He can free you to complete your purpose. She teaches that when we get fit physically as well as spiritually, we will be better equipped to love and serve others. The Wellness Revela-tion will change the way you perceive yourself and the way that you live your life. Each week in this nine-week journey includes a teaching from Alisa, week-ly assignments, Bible study, small-group questions, and more. Alisa will encourage you to love God, get healthy, and serve others; and she will provide you with the tools to spread the gospel with courage, confi-dence, kindness, and freedom. It’s time to make a change from the inside out. Bible Study and Fitness Classes will begin the week of February 3, 2019. Contact Tammy Dowd for more information at [email protected] or 913.472.2084

OVERCOMING THE OBSTACLES YOU'VE FACED IN THE PAST

You’ve done it countless times. On January 1st you make a resolution: THIS will be the year that you’ll finally get a handle on your health and fit-ness. But February rolls around, and you find yourself feeling like a failure. Again. Don’t do the SAME OLD THING this new year! Would you believe us if we told you that the days of obsessing over your workouts and controlling every morsel that goes in your mouth are over? Well hallelujah, they are! We’re going to train in the new and true ways of wellness that are found in Gospel-centered living. We promise to bring both food and fitness to you in a way that’s kind and gentle. Not pinching, prodding, or shaming. Not obsessive or overly restrictive. A way that is sustainable for the long term, not for quick results that won’t last. God wants to build you up! All you need to do is be willing to take the little way, the humble way, back to finding out who you are and what you’re living for. God knows, and He wants to tell you! We are hosting a Revelation Wellness Meet Up on February 2, 2019. This event is an opportunity to learn more about Revelation Wellness, and to engage in worship, Biblical teaching, and joyful movement. Come join us as we renew our HOPE, increase our FAITH, and get filled with God’s LOVE! Date: February 2, 2019 Time: Registration 8:30 Event 9:00 – 12:00 Location: Paola Lighthouse Church- Harbor Gym Bring: Yoga Mat-Water-Snack COST: DONATIONS gratefully accepted for Respire Haiti To Register: contact Tammy Dowd at email: [email protected] or call/text 913-472-2084.

I want to thank the Pastors, staff and all those who prayed for me during my siege of illness. Thanks also for those who brought food. It meant a lot to Georgiea to know she had the support of the Church people.

Dave Slyter Thank you to everyone at Lighthouse for your support and encourage-ment during my time as the Children’s Ministry Director. I have enjoyed the opportunity to do God’s work in such a unique way, and it has been such a blessing. I look forward to the future and the new path God has placed in front of me. Thank you!

Ivy Poetter

With warmest thanks for your cards and food — and especially your pray-ers. My back surgery on January 7th was successful and I will begin PT next week.
