Lighter than perfume –weightless shawl Designed by Lidia Tsymbal SIZE: One size fits all adults FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Measurements taken after blocking. Width: 23 inches Length: 62 inches MATERIALS: 1.5 skeins of Isager alpaca 1 or any lace weight yarn (750 – 800 yards) One 24 inch 4.5mm (US 7) circular needle GAUGE AFTER BLOCKING: 18 stitches = 4 in 22 rows = 4 in Always wash and block (pin out) your lace swatch before measuring gauge! Correct gauge is not essential for this project. PATTERN NOTES: Chart: Every WS (even number) row is worked in this manner: Slip one purl-wise with working yarn in front, knit 4, purl to the last 5 stitches, knit 5 The pattern repeat is 20 stitches. It is between bold black lines that are not straight on the chart. Nupp (K1, yo, K1, yo, K1, yo, K1) all in the same stitch. INSTRUCTIONS: Border: Cast on 87 stitches loosely, using the knitted cast on method. Border rows 1-8: Slipping first stitch purl-wise with working yarn in the front, knit to the end. It forms 4 garter stitch ridges. 1

Body: Set up row or First row of the chart: Slip first stitch purl-wise, k4 sts, place marker (this is right edge), k5, work stitches that are within bold black border three times, then work the rest of the chart to the last 5 stitches, place marker, knit the rest of the stitches (last five stitches of the chart are your left edge). Note Maintain the edge by working first and last five stitches in a garter stitch pattern, thus knitting them in every row. Maintain the position of the marker throughout. Work rows 1- 32 of the chart 11 times. Work row 1 and 2 once more. Work the border once again. Bind off. Finishing: Weave in ends. Thoroughly wet and pin out piece to dry, using blocking wires. Enjoy!
