LIGHT IN LIGHT IN

A DARK PLACE...A DARK PLACE...

Introduction:

For over 400 years the heavens had been sealed and no new

revelation had come to brighten the landscape of man’s sinful

night. Then suddenly the silence is broken. The excellent

glory is revealed, and Jesus Christ steps from the Ivory

Palaces of eternity into the evil-smelling barnyard of this

world. You would think people would rejoice and bask in

sunlight of the love of God, but instead they cling to the

clammy darkness of their own depravity and the icy chill of

death…and they crucify the Prince of Life and seek to snuff

out the Light of Heaven…

Truth number one: Light is come into the world.Jn 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. ...9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.

Jesus is that light: (John 8:12 NKJV) Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."

(John 9:5 NKJV) "As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

Contrast: (2 Cor 11:13-15 NKJV) For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. {14} And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. {15} Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

Truth number two: Men loved darkness rather than light.

(John 3:19-21 NKJV) " {19} "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. {20} "For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. {21} "But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."

Truth number three: Jesus is the True Light

(John 8:12 NKJV) Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."

(John 9:5 NKJV) "As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

(Psa 119:105 NKJV) Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

An artist once drew a picture of a dreary, wintry twilight. The trees were heavily laden with snow, and a dark house, lonely and desolate, stood bleakly in the midst of the storm. It was a sad picture. Then, with a quick stroke of yellow crayon, the artist put a light in one window. The effect was magical. The entire scene was transformed into a vision of comfort and cheer. The Lord Jesus Christ brought similar illumination to this dark world, especially to those who receive Him as their Savior.

The light of Christ transforms the darkened heart of man into the temple of God, whose light shines bright

inside and out through His Holy Spirit..

"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. "Nor do they light a lamp and put it

under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your

Father in heaven.(Mat 5:14-16 NKJV)

"Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain. Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me. (Phil 2:14-18 NKJV)
