We are raising the Unity in Community

through:

PROMOTING EDUCATIONWe’re committed to improving the lives and futures of our team through scholarships, tuition reimbursement and training programs.

SERVING COMMUNITIESWe promote a culture of giving back to the community through service by encouraging and organizing volunteers with our Unity Hours program.

We engage in community improvement and development programs that align with Sun’s vision and goals.

EXTENDING REACHWe’re committed to providing opportunities across the geographically diverse locations in which we operate.

We initiate social responsibility efforts through the Sun Unity program. As a team, we join together and give back to the communities in which we live and work nationwide. The Sun Unity program focuses in different areas to make the greatest impact with our resources.

Raising the Unity in Community

EMPOWERING DEVELOPMENT

TEAM MEMBERSWe provide our team members with the opportunity to volunteer with organizations in which they have a passion to support. In 2018, Sun team members generously volunteered their time through our Unity Hours program. Through our quarterly charity employee match program, team members contributed over $8,400 to six national charities supporting Health and Wellness, Community Development, Homelessness and the Environment.

RESIDENTS AND GUESTSThe give back spirit extends into our resorts and communities where events are coordinated for our guests and residents to get involved. Over 65 of our communities & resorts led local Sun Unity initiatives such as sending care packages to deployed service members, conducting school supply drives for under privileged children and participating in cancer fundraising events.

The Sun Unity program provides opportunities for our Team Members, our Residents and our Guests to be more active in the local and global community.

SUN UNITY CONTINUES TO PURSUE GOALS TO EXTEND OUR LOCAL AND GLOBAL REACH.

IN 2018 WE SET OUT TO:

The Sun Unity program made a tremendous impact through the following initiatives:

IMPACTING OUR LOCAL AND GLOBAL NEIGHBORHOODS • Over 160 Sun team members participated in our First Annual Volunteer Work Day

with Life Remodeled to beautify a Detroit neighborhood community. Team members generously volunteered over 1,200 hours.

• Our partnership with My Jump! continued in 2018 to fulfill a bucket list wish of our senior residents. Two residents attended race car driving school and a blind resident displayed her art in a local community gallery.

• Over 25 team members participated in the Detroit Free Press Marathon to raise money and awareness for our spotlight charities: Multiple Sclerosis, Team World Vision and Epilepsy. The fundraiser collected over $ 39,000.

• Over 15 Ontario Sun RV Resorts participated in the 4th annual fundraiser in support of Make-a-Wish Canada that raised over $ 4,500 to help children facing life-threatening illnesses.

• Sun partnered with Lowe’s Home Improvement to assist Angel’s Place, a Detroit based non-profit supporting people with developmental disabilities. Sun donated a whole house generator and extended our discount program to offset their home maintenance costs.

• Financial support was given to Clara’s Hope organization to bring services to Flint, Michigan foster children programs.

Over 30 underprivileged children received back packs filled with school supplies. Sun provided support to the Thomas Foundation which provides meals to under privileged kids.

• Team members held a raffle to raise over $2,400 to support World Vision, National Multiple Sclerosis Society and National Epilepsy Foundation.

• Sun team members partnered with Volunteers of America to adopt 11 families and provide them with Christmas gifts and meals.

SUPPORTING OUR MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS AND VETERANS • Two senior veteran residents we given the opportunity through My Jump! to fulfill

a bucket list wish and visit Washington D.C. and tour the World War II, Vietnam and Marine war memorials.

• Our communities in Florida partnered with Just Our Soldiers Helpers to send over 50 care packages to deployed service members.

• To honor Veteran’s Day, a financial contribution was given to the Disabled American Veterans in honor of Sun team members who have served in the military.

FOCUS ON ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS AND SERVICES • Sun continued our partnership

with Eastern Market of Detroit to fund programs which ensure a sustainable food supply.

• Eastern Market conducted weekly Farm Stands for main office team members to support local farmers and growers.

• Financial support was given to the Detroit Zoological Society to support wildlife conservation.

HEALTH AND WELL BEING • Through our team member giving

match program over $10,000 was raised supporting The National MS Society, Athletes Vs Epilepsy Foundation and The American Diabetes Association.

• Team members held events to raise over $6,000 to support breast and prostate cancer awareness and research foundations.

EDUCATION • The Sun Scholarship Program for

guests, residents and their family members provided 78 students with a $500 college scholarship.

• Sun partnered with Tofauti on the Move with 51 Sun team members tutoring 70 orphans in Africa.

ANIMAL • Sun Unity participated in Bring Your

Child to Work Day. Kids and their parents worked together to craft blankets for the Detroit Dog Rescue organization.
