    1.00 Lift ing and Lashing Instructions

    1.01 Purpose:

    The purpose of this document is to give the required weights, dimensions and lifting/lashing pointsfor the main parts of this shipment.

    This document defines the lifting and lashing points of the parts herein, but does not cover equipment that is not provided by Howden, and thus it gives no guidance concerning cranes,chains, shackles or other equipment needed for safe lifting and lashing of the equipment. Only thelugs indicated in this document may be used for lifting target equipment.

    1.02 Validity:

    The information in this document is valid for this specific project only.

    1.03 Laws and Regulations:

    In the event of a conflict between this document and the local, regional and national laws andregulations of the country in which the activities are undertaken, the Laws and Regulations of thatcountry shall apply.

    1.04 Responsibility:

    The person in charge of the lifting/lashing is responsible for the process and all the relevantequipment being sufficient for the job. Only competent persons should be given that responsibility.

    Only approved lifting equipment with a rating high enough to withstand the loads induced by theweights given in this document should be used. All load determinations should include applicablesafety factors and acceleration factors.

    Howden takes no responsibility for any lifting or lashing that is not done solely by Howdenpersonnel.

    Howden takes no responsibility for any lifting or lashing equipment that is not provided by Howden.

    1.05 Safety:

    The person in charge of the lifting/lashing is responsible for all safety aspect having beenconsidered and necessary actions taken to prevent any incidents from happening during the liftingprocess or the transport of the goods to its destination.

    The person in charge of the lifting process must carry out a Risk Assessment of the lifting. Liftingshould always be planned and organised to ensure maximum safety and ensure that no-one hasaccess to, or works in or under the lifting area.

    Howden takes no responsibility for safety in connection with any lifting that is not done solely byHowden personnel.

    The person in charge of the lashing should follow the recommendations provided by this guidelineas a minimum requirement for safe lashing of the goods for transport. Any other standards of thecarrier, national laws and regulations, and international standards should be followed, as well.

    WARNING  Always use proper lifting equipment when handling heavy fanparts or other equipment. Follow suppliers' safety instructions for the lifting tool in use.

    WARNING The fan parts should be lifted in the hoisting lugs intended for thatpurpose - never in the casing itself.

    CAUTION Do not step on the consoles or supports protruding from the

    surface.

    WARNING Note that lifting and lashing devices must make angle less than45° to lugs attachment as illustrated.

    1.06 Instruct ions for Lift ing and Lashing the Inlet Box

    For lifting the assembled inlet box, attach the ratchet straps/chain/wire to the lifting lugs on the frontand rear sides of inlet box as illustrated in Figure 1.

    NOTICE Note that lifting equipment and components should be provided bythe carrier or customer handling the parts

    WARNING To guard against possible personal injury or equipment damage:

      Do not subject the load to high rates of acceleration or deceleration.

      Only attach to the lugs as illustrated in this manual.

      Only use lifting equipment with a rating equivalent to or higher than the lugs that it is attached to.

    1.07 Instruct ions for Lift ing and Lashing the Diffuser 

    For lifting the assembled diffuser, attach the ratchet straps/chain/wire to the lifting lugs on top of thediffuser as illustrated in Figure 12.

    NOTICE Note that lifting equipment and components should be provided bythe carrier or customer handling the parts

    WARNING To guard against possible personal injury or equipment damage:

      Do not subject the load to high rates of acceleration or deceleration.

      Only attach to the lugs as illustrated in this manual.

    1.09 Instruct ions for Lift ing and Lashing the Impeller casing

    For lifting the Impeller casing, attach the ratchet straps/chain/wire to the two upper lifting lugs onthe part as illustrated in Figure 23.
