  • GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Name of the trade : Lift Mechanic 2. N.C.O. Code No. : 3. Duration : 2 Years (Four Semesters each of six months duration) 4. Power Norms : 10 Kw 5. Space Norms : 56 Sq.m 6. Entry Qualification : Passed 10th class examination under 10+2 system of education with Science and Mathematics or its equivalent. 7. Unit Size (No. of Student) : 16 8a. Instructors/Trainers Qualification : Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engg. from recognized engg. college/university with one year experience in the relevant field OR Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engg. From recognized board of technical education with two years experience in the relevant field OR 10th Class Pass + NTC/NAC in the Trade of Lift Mechanic With 3 years post qualification experience in the relevant field. 8b. Desirable qualification : Preference will be given to a candidate with Craft Instructor Certificate. Note: At least one Instructor must have Degree/Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engg.

    First Semester (Semester Code no. LIM - 01)

    SCOPE OF TRADE AND SAFE WORK PRACTICES Familiarization with the Institute & trade. Safety precautions to be observed. Elementary first Aid. Concept of Standard & standardization.

    Introduction to Engineering drawing. Free hand sketching of St. lines & simple geometric figures rectangles, circles, polygons etc.

    GENERAL SIMPLIFICATIONS: Revision of elementary mathematical process. Fractions, Types of fractions, common fractions, Decimal fractions with examples.

    Demonstration on Trade hand tools. Use and maintenance. Identification of simple types of screws, nuts & bolts, clamps, rivets etc. Demonstration on Removing of insulations from assorted wires and cables. Joining practice with single and stranded conductors of different Wires and cables. Practice on crimping thimbles and lugs

    COMMON HAND TOOLS AND ELECTRICAL MATERIALS Fundamental terms, definitions and units related to the trade. Identification of Trade, Hand tools-Specifications and uses, Care and maintenance of hand tools. Definition and properties of conductors, insulators and semi conductors. Introduction on type and specification of Wires & cables- (SWG & MM Square) & Use. Types of joints

    Reading of simple Blue Prints, regarding lines & symbols of electrical.
