In South Carolina, if 5% more people attended some college and 5% more had an income higher thantwice the federal poverty level, we could expect to save 1,700 lives, prevent 16,600 cases of diabetes

and eliminate $99.5 million in diabetes costs every year. -- VCU Center on Human Needs.

THE INAUGURAL 5-MILERThe Tuomey Foundation was proud to host the first annual 5-Miler in June

2012, and is looking forward to a great race later this spring. The proceeds from the 5-Miler benefit diabetes education and treatment through our Care Reach program, as well as other community outreach programs funded by the Foundation.

“The first 5-Miler was an incredible success! The weather was beautiful and the route was fabulous – flat, exciting, safe and an excellent tour of historic Sumter,” said avid runner and local attorney Bronwyn McElveen. “All of The Tuomey Foundation’s planning paid off. There were hundreds of runners, and the numbers and organization surpassed any expectations for an inaugural run. We are lucky to have a new, top-notch road race that promotes healthy living, physical activity and our Sumter community – all thanks to Tuomey.”

The 5-mile route is USATF-certified and was part of the 2012 Palmetto Grand Prix. The event raised more than $16,000 (net) for a very worthwhile cause. Winners of the race included: The Male Overall Winner - Ryan Plexico of Columbia, SC, and The Female Overall Winner – Anna Lyles of Sumter, S.C. We had more than 400 participants, and a few from other states, as far as Browndale, PA.

We are excited that our race is now included in the Sumter Series, a set of six races throughout the year. Visit sumtersc.gov and look under “community” for the race link and to register for all six for only $100.

Dear Loyal Supporters:

There is a spirit that is The Tuomey Foundation. It is the forward-thinking friends and neighbors wanting more for their community. It’s the educators, healthcare workers, farmers, homemakers, moms and dads. It’s a spirit of giving like no other.

Touching lives is the work of The Tuomey Foundation, and we could not do it without you. Your support this past year was just another example of how much you care about your community, your neighbors and your hospital.

Since October 1995, the Foundation has served as the philanthropic arm of Tuomey Healthcare System. It is a vehicle through which individuals, families, businesses and other non-profit organizations can make a difference to so many. And in 2012, please know that you did make a difference.

Whether your support went to cancer patients, children at Camp Scamp, a young boy needing a bike helmet or a family who had made the difficult decision to call in Hospice, 100 percent of your donation was used to help others. It’s those dollars that are building a better healthcare system and a better community.

In a time when the cost of running a major healthcare system rises dramatically each year, gifts to The Tuomey Foundation are vital. They can absolutely make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

Each year, the Foundation continues to make tremendous strides. As you will read in this year’s annual report, more money was raised for Hospice, more children were helped through SAFE KIDS, additional outreach programs were funded and health education was given more support.

These are your dollars at work. But more than money, the stories around those dollars are heartwarming. Together, we are making lives better. We are making families more comfortable, and we are healing your friends and neighbors. It is our passion, and one that we do not take lightly.

As we enter another year of service, please know that we are proud stewards of the dollars you trust us with. We will work hard to make a difference. Our dear friend, the late Tat Moses, said it best: “My sole desire is to leave this world a better place, and Richard (Moses, her husband) and I are very cognizant of our responsibility in that area.”

Well said, Mrs. Moses. We agree, and we hope to do just the same.

FILLING THE GAPS – A MODEST GOAL WITH POWERFUL OUTCOMES

It started with a vision. Deep in the heart of The Tuomey Foundation lives a calling, a mission to help others and fill the gaps in this community’s healthcare needs.

“It was a powerful vision back in the early 1990s,” said Tuomey President and CEO Jay Cox. “There were many of us that saw how times were changing. We were not going to be able to fund everything without the support of the community.”

So in 1995, the fundraising arm of Tuomey was born. The Tuomey Foundation was created for the purpose of

enhancing patient care within the walls of the hospital and providing support for programs and services that take Tuomey’s caring arm into the community. It was a mission of quiet strength and endless possibilities.

The passion of countless donors, volunteers and staff have made this altruistic mission come to life. Over the past two decades, humble beginnings have turned into bigger-than-life realities.

“It always amazes me how many people give to The Tuomey Foundation, and the way our volunteers are always eager to help,” said Foundation Executive Director Jeff Faw. “And whether you give one dollar or $100,000, your gift is making a difference. I have seen it first-hand in the eyes of the people we have helped. We are making things better for an entire community.”

Through the Foundation, individuals, families, businesses and other foundations are provided with a way to financially support programs and services offered by the nonprofit hospital. It is these monetary gifts – to and by the Foundation – that work hard to fill the gaps in meeting this area’s healthcare needs and propel a margin of excellence in all Tuomey offers the community.

Consider this: since its inception, the Foundation has contributed more than $6 million in hospital and community services. We’ve spent our dollars on everything from breast cancer screenings and bike helmets to maternity education and defibrillators in area high schools. And in 2012, we funded more grants than ever, more than $257,000.

As Tuomey serves the community, the community helps Tuomey provide healthcare facilities and programs of uncompromised excellence. That’s why your support is so vital and so deeply appreciated. Your support is the critical factor in our ability to provide these extras.

The relationships that fuel the growth of this Foundation – filling the gaps, if you will – are making a difference in our community. And we thank you for your dedication and constant support. We simply could not do it without you.

GLEN SHARPThe Tuomey Foundation and Tuomey

Healthcare System lost a staunch supporter earlier this year with the death of Glen Sharp. A former board member for both organizations, Sharp died in January at the age of 91.

“He was a very caring man, dedicated to many causes with both his time and resources,” said Tuomey President and CEO Jay Cox. “He was one of the smartest businessmen I knew, and he had a spirit of giving that will live on for many generations.”

Sharp, a 1945 graduate of the University of Texas, moved to Sumter in 1947. He was married to May Bynum Sharp for 63 years and gave countless hours to many organizations. He was

active with not only Tuomey, but the YMCA, USC Sumter, Morris College, the Sumter Rotary Club, Trinity United Methodist Church and the Sumter Boys and Girls Club. He was named the Sumter Businessman of the Year in 1989.

“I will truly miss working with Mr. Sharp,” said Foundation Executive Director Jeff Faw. “He was a friend, a true supporter of philanthropic work and a very smart businessman. “

After a brief stint in a family friend’s propane gas business in Georgia, Sharp borrowed startup funds from his mother to launch his own company in South Carolina, choosing Sumter as the headquarters of Suburban Propane Gas Inc. in 1947. A few years later his brother Walter joined him in the business, which grew to become the largest propane gas business in S.C. with

more than 100 employees and nine offices statewide. In 1991, at the age of 70, he merged the company with South Carolina Electric and Gas (SCANA Corporation) and retired to pursue philanthropic and community interests.

Sharp is survived by his wife and two daughters, Esther Bynum Sharp and Elise Sharp Moore (Wayne); and four grandsons, Galen Michael Haggerty, Thomas Sharp Hearn, Chad Moore and Ford Moore.

We at The Tuomey Foundation know what a gift Mr. Sharp was to not only us, but the community as a whole. We are better for having known and worked with Glen Sharp.

He will be missed.

The Foundation’s Grants and Allocations Committee hears proposals from a wide variety of departments and groups each year, all anxious to improve care for their patients or take their caring arms out into the community in new and innovative ways. Its goal is to work to fund at least a portion of every request.

“We are able to give to groups as diverse as the Emergency Room and the Nursery, as distinctive as the Education Department and Cardiac Rehab,” said Foundation Director Jeff Faw. “With the Unrestricted Fund, we’re able to give where the need is greatest. Through other funds and endowments, we’re able to meet very specific needs. We have some innovative and interesting proposals each year, and we’re thrilled to be able to help them become a reality.”

In 2012, the Foundation helped bring to fruition a refurbished “Family Room” for bereaved relatives or family members who need a quiet place to hear hard news or make a tough decision; the purchase of Evacusleds for easier evacuation of patients in a time of emergency; materials for a perinatal palliative care/bereavement program; and a new more portable harp for our unique music ministry. Children with asthma face a special set of challenges. Frequent school absences, constant medication and difficulty with exercise can all be trying to a young child with severe symptoms. But the most trying aspect of their condition could be the sense of anxiety and exclusion that overshadows activities other kids take for granted.

That’s why there is Camp SCAMP. Funded by The Tuomey Foundation and coordinated by Tuomey’s Women and Children’s Services division, Camp SCAMP offers a traditional camp experience for more than 60 asthmatic children each summer. Here, sports, cookouts and field trips are combined with educational sessions that help kids better understand and manage their asthma.

“The Foundation provides these children with such a wonderful experience as well as the education to better handle their health issues,” said Susan Gaymon, administrative director of Women and Children’s Services. “Without the Foundation’s donation, many of these children would never get to experience the joys of camp.”

The week-long camp takes place in a safe, well-monitored environment staffed by nurses and respiratory therapists. Thanks to the Foundation, there is no cost to the families.

The Emergency Room is a kinetic, bustling place. Sometimes it’s noisy and chaotic – especially if there’s a major trauma in progress – and sometimes it’s teeming with people who need immediate care. Those crowded hallways aren’t the best place to be when you have to hear tough news about a family member, or make a hard decision about someone’s care.

That’s why the Emergency Department at Tuomey asked the Foundation for a grant to renovate the E.R. Family Room. It wasn’t just about the décor. They wanted a quiet, comfortable space, a warm environment for a family gathered to grieve a loss, talk to a pastor, or get hard news about someone’s prognosis.

“Our Family Room was in terrible shape,” says E.D. Manager Eric McFarland. “It had been beaten up over the years and had become a cold, disorganized room. We all agreed it was no place we would want our families to have to hear tough news, so we asked for help to have it renovated.”

The room will have a fresh coat of paint, new furniture, softer lighting and some artwork. The chaplains can use it for spiritual counseling. The Community Outreach liaison will use it to discuss psych patient treatment options. “We can use it for anything that helps with a visitor experience and enhances communication with families,” McFarland said.

The Foundation also gave money in 2012 to help E.R. nurses train to become certified sexual assault nurse examiners. Their role is to provide support, preserve the victim’s dignity and collect evidence that will link victim and attacker.

These nurses know that the trauma of a sexual attack extends far beyond the attack itself, that a person who’s been the victim of sexual violence feels alone and afraid -- and vulnerable. The nurses want to be sure that these people won’t have to face that humiliation again in what some call “the second assault” -- the rape kit examination.

SAFE KidsIn the United States,

the rate for misuse of infant and child car seats is tremendously high. South Carolina is no exception.

It’s a terrifying reality, and one Sumter County SAFE KIDS is working to change.

“When installed and used correctly, child safety seats can reduce fatal injury by up to 71 percent for infants and 54 percent for toddlers,” said Cheryl Jackson, SAFE KIDS coordinator for Sumter County.

Since 2000, approximately 1,900 children ages 14 and under have died in a motor vehicle-related incident each year in the United States. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of injury-related death to children ages 1 to 14.

To combat these staggering statistics, Tuomey also offers an expectant parents car seat safety class.

“Through The Tuomey Foundation, we are able to provide convertible car seats for these children to use. The car seat can provide protection for the first four years of the baby’s life,” Jackson said.

“We teach the parents how to install the seat in to the car and how to place the infant in the car.”

Through the significant financial support of the Foundation and the collaborative efforts of a number of community partners, SAFE KIDS distributes free or discounted car seats and bike helmets, and checks child restraint systems in automobiles to be sure they are properly installed.

In addition, the organization visits countless schools, safety fairs and other public settings, exposing children and parents to a variety of issues including fire and water safety, electrical dangers, drug abuse and more.

Your gifts to the Foundation in 2012 also helped Tuomey support breastfeeding and its proven health impact on babies and their moms.

Tuomey was selected a few years ago to participate in Best Fed Beginnings, a first-of-its-kind national effort to improve breastfeeding rates in states where rates are the lowest.

Although breastfeeding is one of the most effective preventive health measures for infants and mothers, half of U.S.-born babies are given formula within the first week, and by 9 months, only 31 percent are breastfeeding. Best Fed Beginnings seeks to reverse this trend by dramatically increasing the number of hospitals implementing a proven model for maternity services that better supports a mom’s choice to breastfeed.

The National Initiative for Children’s Healthcare Quality is leading the effort with funding from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.

Tuomey is delighted to have been chosen to participate in this important effort. We recognize that the hospital experience strongly influences a mother’s ability to start and continue breastfeeding. We are committed to ensuring that mothers delivering in our facility who intend to breastfeed are fully supported.

Breastfeeding decreases the incidence and severity of many infectious diseases, reduces infant mortality, and supports neurodevelopment. It also decreases infants’ risk of becoming obese later in childhood. For mothers, breastfeeding decreases the risks of breast and ovarian cancers, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and cardiovascular disease.

SO, YOU DON’T THINK YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO GIVE TO THE FOUNDATION?

YOU MAY BE WRONG.Money is obviously important in funding Tuomey programs. But we accept other forms of donations as well. A lot goes

into a fund-raising event, and with the many details come many expenses. Our Gift-in-Kind donors graciously help us with these expenses by donating their services to us. These gifts come in all shapes and sizes: food and drinks, signage and advertising, door prizes and participant gifts, printing and photography, for example.

These special gifts are valuable to us because that means more proceeds go straight to the worthwhile causes we are working so hard to fund.

Another valuable donation is one’s time. Some of our events are large and take a lot of hands to make them successful. Volunteers are used in so many different capacities at these events, whether checking someone out at an auction, watching for a hole-in-one on the golf course or selling tickets at a show. We could not do what we do without support from our volunteers. Most of our event committees are made up of volunteers in the community. They have a passion for their hospital and want to see the many programs and services we offer be successful in serving others.

We value your gift deeply. We strive to be good stewards of your generosity, and hope you feel fulfillment knowing you are serving your community.

dreams coming true.Training future healthcare providers is no easy task. It takes

funding, educators, equipment and space. Lots of space. The students need to experience the “real world” of healthcare. They need to touch patients, work with specific tools and make split-second decisions – just as if they were working on real people with life-threatening issues.

Since finances are always part of the equation, Central Carolina Technical College looked for partners when they were considering the future of their program. And Tuomey Healthcare System was proud to step forward.

The 70,000-square-foot Health Sciences Center was partly funded by the Duke Endowment. Tuomey was one of the hospitals that helped secure that vital grant, and it also provides clinical space for the nurses during their training in the hospital.

During the 2012 fiscal year, the Foundation completed funding the original grant and made its final report to the Duke Endowment.

“This was a great partnership, and we can’t wait to see what Central Carolina continues to do in its future,” said Foundation Director Jeff Faw.

Located on Main Street, the health center is a beautiful addition to Downtown Sumter. And it serves a real need in this community.

“They provide us with some of the best nurses in the business, and they work hard to make sure their students find jobs. They are growing our entire economy with their programming,” Faw added. “We are proud to be their partner.”

The Health Sciences program offers training for nurses, surgical technicians, massage therapists, medical assistants and phlebotomists. Central Carolina is now graduating more than 100 nurses per year.

THE TRIBUTE GIFT: What a wonderful way to preserve the memory of someone you love and respect. Or to show a friend, family member or coworkers how much they mean to you or how proud you are of something they’ve done

or achieved. Gifts to the Foundation in honor of or memory of another person can be a beautiful way to share quality healthcare with the rest of the community. Give during Doctor’s Day, the Circle of Lights or just about anytime.

Festival of Trees& Circle of lights

As healthcare providers, we are conditioned to resist death. But there comes a point at which we must accept it and lovingly help others

do the same. With that in mind, the Tuomey Hospice Program was created to comfort and support those facing this final stage of life.

One of the highlights of the Christmas season is the Festival of Trees and Circle of Lights. Each year, this well-established

program helps raise money for Hospice and services related to our Hospice program.

The Annual Festival of Trees and Circle of Lights celebration raised more than $71,000 in 2012. The 56 sponsor-

decorated trees displayed throughout the hospital during the holiday season also brought joy to patients, visitors and

employees. More than 70 people “bought” lights for the Hospice Christmas tree in honor or memory of loved ones, raising $4,072.

One of the staunchest supporters of Tuomey Hospice is Dr. J. Grady Locklear, who serves as chairman of the

Festival of Trees committee.

“For any organization to have a lasting impact, there must be a financial basis for its longevity

and an organization that keeps its name before the public. The Tuomey Foundation does just

that,” Locklear said. “I wanted to be a

The Tuomey Society GalaThe Tuomey Society Gala honors those members of the Foundation who have given a minimum of $1,000 during the previous year. The 2012 Gala was held at the lovely home of Dr. and Mrs. Eddie Duffy. An annual tradition, the Gala is one of the most exciting social events each spring, and the Foundation is thrilled to honor these outstanding donors. The Tuomey Society giving level is the heart and soul of the Foundation and our most prestigious giving society.

Capital Campaign:A hospice house for the future

part of the Foundation to assure that monies are raised for programs that otherwise may not be funded; additionally, it provides me an opportunity to work with a wonderful cadre of folks.”

For patients with a terminal illness, compassionate care means focusing on quality of life rather than length of life. Hospice emphasizes treating the person, not their disease. For many, that means spending their final weeks at home, where they can enjoy the company and support of family and friends.

Through the financial support of the Foundation, Tuomey Hospice makes this happen. And Hospice services are not limited to the patient. Bereavement, spiritual and respite care are all significant components of the hospice care plan and are in place to aid patients and their loved ones.

In 2012, The Tuomey Foundation laid the groundwork for a capital campaign to raise money for a Hospice House in our community. Initial planning involved interviewing many of you to see if there is truly a need for this type of structure, how it could be funded and gaining information on who would donate to the cause.

With a resounding YES from each of you, we are happy to report that the Foundation will move forward later this year with a Capital Campaign for a Hospice House in Sumter.

“I am so excited about this effort and the work that will go into this campaign,” said Jeff Faw, the Foundation’s executive director. “We will work hard this year to make this dream of so many a reality for our community.”

For Tuomey employees, caring for others is a way of life. And the plans for this Hospice House take that caring arm even further into the community.

“There is a need in this area for such a place, and Tuomey wants to fill that need,” said Kim Price, a Tuomey administrator who

heads up Tuomey Hospice. “I envision a peaceful, spa-like setting with rooms that have a home-like feel and provide family members a comfortable place to sleep if they want to stay with their loved one.”

The plan is for Tuomey Hospice House to accommodate up to 15 patients with room to grow. It will have a place for visiting children to play, a family room, a chapel, a garden area, meeting rooms and possibly a house pet. The house will be staffed with nurses and aides at a 5-to-1 staff-to-patient ratio, and the medical director will be able to make more frequent rounds. Tuomey hopes to raise all funds needed – an estimated $4 million – before breaking ground on the project. The location of the house has not been finalized at this point.

“This is going to be a wonderful place for patients and their families,” Faw added. “Dealing with end-of-life issues is extremely difficult, and we just want to be there each step of the way.”

COMMUNITY OUTREACH ENDOWMENT

Every gift to The Tuomey Foundation is a blessing, and we are grateful for each

dollar contributed. When you support the Foundation, you are investing in the future

of your community and its hospital.

Instead of a one-time donation, several donors have chosen to establish

endowments. These initial gifts were established for a specific cause or program,

and individuals can continue to donate to these endowments – making sure that your

dollars go to the exact cause that is closest to your heart.

An Endowment generally is a fund that is made up of gifts and bequests that

are subject to a requirement that the principal be maintained intact and invested to

create a source of income for an organization. Donors may set up an endowment to

fund a specific interest or program. The Foundation is honored to have several

endowments established by community residents.

Established in 1995, this initial fund was provided

by Tuomey Regional Medical Center to start

The Tuomey Foundation. From this humble

beginning, the Foundation now awards on

average more than $200,000 a year.

This fund takes the healthful programs initiated by Tuomey outside the hospital walls and into the community. This endowment funds programs such as SAFE

KIDS, Camp Scamp, free screenings and much more.

This program was designed for patients with a terminal illness and seeks to improve, as opposed to extend, the quality of their last days through an

environment of compassionate care and support.

Established in 2001 by Mrs. Charles H. White in memory of her husband, a pioneer in the medical field and a legend throughout the halls of Tuomey, this

endowment supports the needs of the Cardiac Department.

Established by the Watson family to honor Jeanne C. Watson, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2000, this endowment was created to support education,

equipment, training and other cancer-related services in Oncology.

Created in 2000 by the employees of Tuomey Healthcare System who wanted to help Tuomey families with their educational goals.

This fund was established in 2007 in honor of Frances Cowan Driver, Elizabeth Parnell Caulkins and Fair McLeod Edmunds to further nursing education.

Golf ClassicIt was another successful, beautiful day on the links.

The 14th Annual Tuomey Foundation Golf Classic brought together 52 sponsors and 35 teams for golf, food, fun and prizes, as well as to raise money for the Community Outreach Endowment. The more than $69,000 raised will support vital programs like CareReach, SAFE KIDS, wellness screenings and more.

Even while the golfers are enjoying a day on the course – and maybe even shooting a hole-in-one – the real reason we were all there was to help children in our community.

One of the programs to benefit from the Golf Classic is CareReach. Through support from Tuomey and the Duke Endowment, CareReach was started to protect the health needs of the students in the Lee County schools. The program was later expanded to Sumter County, and now reaches more than 1,500 children each year. Program leaders connect children with needed medical and dental care, as well as addressing their behavioral issues.

Since 2004, the Foundation has contributed more than $41,197.64 in support of CareReach.

Sumter Arts ShowcaseThere’s no business like show business, and the folks from Miss

Libby’s School of Dance and Gymnastics prove that each year with a top-notch show that wows audiences. And the 2012 Showcase – A Bite Out of the Big Apple – was no exception.

Dancers and tumblers from the school performed some of their best routines and were joined on stage by local talent from a variety of schools and organizations. The event is always a highlight of February, and one the Foundation always looks forward to.

“I have chosen to support The Tuomey Foundation because of the outreach possibilities and the community impact,” said Seth Reimer, general manager of Miss Libby’s. “I appreciate the Foundation’s willingness to support the arts and be a voice for the arts.”

Since 1998, Miss Libby’s has raised money each year for Tuomey’s Women and Children’s Services through a two-day performance open to the community. In total, the event has grossed more than $400,000 for the Foundation.

“The Foundation is much like our Sumter community,” Reimer added. “It’s diverse in culture, has a patriotic heart and is prepared to help at a moment’s notice.”

The Women of Tuomey, created in 2007, is another way to become involved in the efforts of The Tuomey Foundation. More than ever, women are making a difference in the world, and the Foundation is no exception.

“I feel honored and privileged to be a part of such a worthwhile group of women,” said Meg Creech, a Tuomey Fellow graduate and member of the WOT Steering Committee. “They work diligently to enhance the quality of care given to all

of the women in our community through the many programs at Tuomey Healthcare. What a reward it is to know that through

our fundraisers, we have given dads serving in our military the chance to view their child’s birth via webcams purchased by the Women of Tuomey; we supported the wonderful Wig Boutique at the hospital; and we have also provided breast cancer and nutrition education to many women.”

“The Tuomey Foundation is much more to the hospital and the Sumter community than a fund-raising arm,” said Tuomey

Board Member Nicole Norris, who has been an active member of the Women of Tuomey. “It performs an amazing outreach in a real and personal way. The Foundation touches our hearts and lives through the programs such as Women of Tuomey and Tuomey Fellows and events such as Festival of Trees and Showcase, to name a few,” Norris added. “I am proud to be a member of the Tuomey Family.”

The Women of Tuomey has raised close to $13,000 with its events over the past five years. Its Bags, Bling and Baubles event in November raised over $8,700 in 2012.

WAYS TO GIVE

There are many ways to share a gift with The Tuomey Foundation. Because the Foundation is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt charity, contributions are tax-deductible. And Tuomey Healthcare System invests in the Foundation by covering all operating costs, which means that 100 percent of your gift benefits the fund of your choice. The Foundation Board of Governors is the caretaker of all contributions given to the Foundation. This group ensures proper stewardship of these gifts, as well as oversees the Foundation’s work. The Foundation also reports annually its full financial statement to the Attorney General of the State of South Carolina.

The most common forms of gifts to the Foundation are:

ANNUITIES

BANK DRAFTS

CASH AND CHECKS

CORPORATE SPONSORSHIPS

ENDOWMENTS

GIFTS-IN-KIND (NON-CASH ITEMS)

HONORARIUMS AND MEMORIALS

REAL ESTATE AND PERSONAL PROPERTY

SECURITIES OR STOCKS

All pledges may be made over five years. All gifts will be acknowledged and all donor names will be listed in Tuomey publications.

TYPES OF GIVING

Annual Giving – This is the cornerstone of the Foundation. It is through continuous gifts that we are able to expand Tuomey’s healthcare reach. Our Annual Giving Program includes those donors who commit to ongoing, annual contributions as well as those who make a one-time gift. These contributions might include real estate, personal property, securities or other investments. They can be shared through bank drafts, cash, checks and gifts-in-kind.

Planned Giving (Deferred Gifts) – In contrast to annual gifts, Planned Gifts are those made now but received by the Foundation later. Planned gifts can include bequests, gift annuities, life insurance, retirement accounts, endowments or personal assets. Deferred gifts offer tremendous tax advantages depending upon the type of gift, including reductions in taxable income and estate taxes.

Memorials & Honorariums – Memorials and Honorariums are a touching way to recognize someone who has brought meaning to your life. Many families request memorials instead of flowers when a loved one passes away. Or, an honorarium is a special way to recognize a family member or friend, co-worker or neighbor on their birthday, during the holidays or as a thank you.

Corporate Sponsorships – The Tuomey Foundation holds many events throughout the year. The Festival of Trees, the Annual Golf Classic and the Sumter Arts Showcase are just a few of the opportunities available for companies to make an impact on health initiatives in the Sumter area.

Annual Giving Societies – To recognize Foundation donors, we established giving societies that appropriately reflect each contribution. It’s our way of saying thank you and keeping you informed of how your dollars are making a difference.

THERE ARE SO MANY WAYS TO GIVE:

On-Line Giving is now available, making it even easier to donate to The Tuomey Foundation!

Just log on to www.tuomeyfoundation.com from your office or home and make your gift. You may designate it to the fund of your choice.

We are making it easier to stay plugged into The Tuomey Foundation as well: Keep up with the Foundation on-line at www.tuomeyfoundation.com, on twitter @tuomeyfound and on Facebook.
